Is it the weather or what, Al?

I suspect my obnoxious hen might be going broody too...... She was still laying up till today, but all the other behaviors are there....... how do I make her stop? I don't need a broody.....

Well the plan was to feed hubby REAL well and then do some smoochin' and hope he would forget HE counted over 130 birds, that was the one he could see, no including the one hiding under trailers and such.
Some free range, Show stuff is in pens and babies are put up.




I Guess I will have to keep him he sticks by me through snot and tears. My rat terrier that we took to the vet on Saturday, was put down tonight. She did not get any better and tonight when I got home she ran up to me then stumble and fell and couldn't get back up. I check her eyes nad she was blind. We called the vet and he met us after hours but after he examined her she started yelping in pain and she didn't know me. So I figured the best thing for her was to end her pain.
I am sick right now,. It is hard to know if the joy of having them outweighs the pain when you lose them.

I'll save a pair for you. I've been getting $8 each for them. I surely can't tell what gender they are until the male starts displaying ... usually around 3 months old. Now, if I can talk my friend Sam into coming to POOPS ... he's been quite accurate at guessing the sex with his car keys. He was right on the money with some Welsummer chicks I bought at an auction.

My guess is it is just good ole mother nature in the spring doin her thing, hey I made a rhyme LOL. yea seems to be catching on. I normally would not keep or have silkies but I caved because I wanted to go au-natural, and the silkies were my best option. So it should be kinda cool we will see.

Most everyone believes it's just superstition ... dangling a metal object over a subject to determine the sex of it .... a lot of people use a common nail tied to a string. Supposedly if the metal goes in a circle, its a female, if it goes back & forth, it's a male. I'd just say that Sam (a really nice Native American man that goes to most of the auctions I attend) is gifted or just plain lucky at being correct most of the time. Either way, I always enjoy his company, wisdom, and free car key sexing
