Do any of you do the NPIP now for other people, I would like to get my birds done and was wondering how much it would cost me and if someone was willing to come here and do it, might consider this class, I have helped do it on birds before, when and where and how much does it cost for the class, Lynn

Are you talking about the portable carport/garages with the removable sides or the sunshades that kind of 'umbrella' together and slide in a bag?

I still haven't gotten a response to post #11463 about auctions and I want/have to see pictures of Don's 'microwator'.

Lynn,
It is a huge sale. They have about 20 acres of stuff. They have two or three auctions going on at the same time. They have the small animal auction, the gun auction, and they have a huge field of misc items. They also have vendors selling tools , knives and food.

We can rent those big tents - that's a great idea to provide shade for the peeps and the peoples.

Although I can't have any more clucks, I would have liked to see Don's microwave 'bator in action. I think Monty told me it hatches eggs in 3 days!

If you want to go with a certified NPIP flock, the Department of Agriculture will come out and test your birds for pullorum and Avian Flu. Since they have federal funding for the Avian Flu test, they don't charge for the NPIP testing and all you pay is the $10 annual fee for your NPIP certification. While they are there, they can also look at your incubator and brooder set up and NPIP your "hatchery." Be sure that your incubator and your brooder are in separate rooms.

The NPIP certification class is June 12 at the Department of Agriculture in OKC. The cost is $35 and you will need to bring two birds to practice on. Of the $35, $5 pays for the class application and $30 pays for your 3 year tester's certificate. In Oklahoma, the rules require that you purchase all of your testing syrum from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture (but I have done some price comparison and it isn't any more expensive than buying it from a poultry supply)

If you are interested in having the Department of Agriculture come out and certify you or if you want to sign up for the June 12 certification class, contact Marie at 405-522-6139. The deadline for signing up is June 5.

Greybear - This class is June 12th in the State Complex area,
(I think).....It's like an all day class, you have to bring two
birds to test, but I don't remember what the class costs.
I seem to remember that at the end of the class you get an
order form to order your "stuff" and in Oklahoma, your testing
serium "has" to be ordered from the State of Oklahoma.
Am sure Teach or Loves will have more of the details.

We only have one guy that ends up having to do all the 4-H,
district, and county shows around here, so Pa-Pa decided he'd
take the class and be able to help out. Seems we're destined
to have to be there anyway........LOL

In trying to put a "fall POOPS" together, we'll have to do some
checking as to when all these county fairs, state fairs, etc. will
be. I know there'll be a large show at Pryor this fall, there's
a big show at Fayetteville the 7th of November, and of course,
Shawnee will be the middle of December. I think the Tulsa
Fair is the last week in September and the first week of October.
Not sure about Fort Smith, and don't know about Oklahoma City.
But, the county fairs will start the first of September. So,
y'all that will be showing birds, see what you can find out.

Have a good one !

The availability of auctions will depend on when you are in Oklahoma this June. Some auctions are weekly and some are one a month and others are on the 2nd and 4th Saturday.

Here is the link to the Oklahoma auctions - they are listed on the first page of this thread
https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=33248

If you will give us the dates for your visit, we can help you identify those in the OKC / Chickasha area in that time frame.
