Well good evening everyone who is not at the Blanchard auction and for those of you who are and will be reading this post at 3 am, boy am I jealous. Not like I need anymore birds right now. My incubator and both brooders are way full. and so is my chick pen. I am going to have to expand soon.

OKrobin, hope your baby pulls through. I agree with the keeping it to water and electrolites for a while. You may want to try some veggie broth as well for a little added nutrience.

Carla, I feel for you working all this overtime. Uli is going through the same thing right now and it really sucks. It is really surprising that employers have yet realise even with tons of research to back it up that overtime is really counter-productive in the long haul.

It is so stupid that companies will pay hugh amounts of overtime rather then just hire more staff.

Yeah Capitalizm!!

On a good note my black cochin are hatching. So far four but the other four have a lot of movement in them so hopefully they will be hatching anytime now.

It also appears that all 6 of the peafowl eggs I bought at Cement are developing.

I just hope they will hatch.

Oh and if anyone does come across some white cochin eggs or chicks I would love to trade or buy some. I now have blue, black, barred and splash I just need white to make my cochin flock complete.

Roflmao....that's what's happening here this evening.....Pa-Pa
forgot that this last batch of guineas was "due" and they were
on the second level......Just my luck...those "yacky" little rats
are gonna make it............LOL

Gees, nobody needs baseball sized hail !!! Teach, keep us
posted that you guys are OK. Have seen on the news about
the hail storm at Stillwater while you guys were in class.......
about an hour north of OKC......

Guess, out here in "toolieville", I'd better draw some well
water and be sure there's oil in the lamps..........Ahhhhhh.....
life at the farm..........LOL

Take care, all.

I am watching the weather radar - I hope we don't get the hail that Teach experienced.
Last night's tornado was in your direction - did it get very close to you? (how do you distinguish a native Oklahoman from those who have been in Oklahoma less than 15 years? The natives are on the front porch watching the tornado to see how close it is going to get to them)

I guess I have some auction chicks hatching today too, along with some cute turkey poults. I was caught totally off guard on the hatch. This overtime & all the rest of life is leaving me exhausted and forgetful. I know I should have moved eggs to the hatcher a few days ago.

Gerald was talking about white bantam cochin chicks selling for $8 each and that the seller PO'd the white cochin bantam eggs, but I'm not sure for what amount. Maybe they were special? I guess they must not be as common as the others or perhaps they were show quality. I guess I'll get an update on the sale when he gets home from the auction. He did tell me that he thought it wouldn't last as long as the other auctions in the past. I think there were fewer buyers, sellers and chickens this time, probably because of the hot weather, economy, vacations & such.

Luckily on the overtime, I have an option to either take the money or comp time. The money would be nice, especially since I need to get another washing machine or get mine fixed, but I would rather take off work when it's convenient to me .... like for a poultry auction or something!

I am back. Here is the damage report...my family is fine!!!

We lost a window on the Mom mobile and looks like the boys used it for batting practice...the house is dented but not broken! Get to call insurance!

Ran around helping the widow ladies and such. Lots of broken windows and dented stuff. Lots of folks already out and about helping...buddy's house looks like someone did a drive by shooting a very large caliber gun!

All is good...well the garden is trashed. I will get peppers, lettuce, and okra...maybe the maters will pull through. Anybody seen squash and such for sale still?

Know of one person that went outside during the hail and got one on the head for his trouble...blood and such...ambulance went by so we got noisey

Oh Teach....wish we were all closer....well, afterwards..............
We'd all be there to do whatever you needed for us to do.
That is some scarry "stuff". Am glad that you and yours are
all OK. The rest of it can be replaced. But you, and yours,
are special to us.

Let us know if there's anything we can do from here.

Teach, we are all praying for you ... glad that you made it thru the storm OK. It's not too late to plant again in your garden. Gerald just planted some watermelon seeds a few days ago & they're already sprouting! It's still planting season, I hope.

Gerald called me from the Blanchard auction and said it ended around 10:30 pm. He said there were a lot of PO's on birds tonight. He said a bourbon red turkey hen sold for $32 and some guy PO'd his guineas & wanted $10 each for them, and a male peacock was PO'd because it didn't go high enough (they wanted $45 for it).

Oh, & Gerald bought a rabbit hutch for $30, some bantam chicks & eggs and came home with money in his pocket from what he sold! Yea! I think he said he bought 8 dozen bantam hatching eggs. I guess I'd better find some room in the incubators.

And, Gerald said some BYC Okies were there ... "was it chiclooker and oldmotherhen?" I asked & he said he wasn't sure, but he thought so. He is almost as bad as I am remembering folks.

I wust say that the dents in the coop are kinda neat. There are all these dents in the corrugation...looks like someone was crawling around on top with a hammer...was gonna write ball-peen but wasn't sure how to spell....well...ball-peen?

Carla - sounds like I just need to place an order and come down get some birds from ya and go to an auction! I could bring my tools and whip you out some hutches in no time flat...oh Al...road trip buddy? He is a sucker for road trips and birds!

Edited cuz i forgot to say i would actually like some help...would someone mind checking the roof? Heights and spiders...my two fears! Oh well...I can get over the height thing...I am staying scared of spiders!
