Okies in the BYC The Original

Everyone here was fairing just fine when I got home. I only had a couple of teenagers that got on the wrong side of the fence so they had been without water. I hearded them back to this side and they went straight to the water. Momma hen & her two babies are doing great, she is showing them how to stay cool and it is cute watching her take them to the water to drink. The silkies seem to be okay. The two little ones are alittle skitish but they were laying in the dirt staying cool.

Misters are going...I put an oscillating fan in the coop door facing out to suck out the hot air. Working pretty good....only about 105 in the coop. That last bunch of heat we had it was 117 in my coop...so the fan has to be helping somewhat. Hens are lolling in the misters...LOL....Put them all along the south side of the run and in the northwest corner. I have Chickens In The Mist! I think I'm gonna add in electrolytes as long as it's over 103 or so.... Spoiled dirtbags.

Gatorade help immensely TJsnana...shoulda done it a couple days ago. Didn't think I could keep it down...hate the taste of the stuff! But I feel more energy and not so listless...I even cleaned up the dog barf and cleaned my Mom's carpet! I'm Back! (Maybe)

OK OK gotta question, that has to do with electrolytes etc. When we bought our dog they gave us some stuff that we put in his water and it is called Puppy Aid and is a Probiotic Nutritional Supplement. The question is will this work for chickens?

Edited to change dosage.....I use about 3/4 of a teaspoon for my 3 gallon jug... they say a little goes along way.

Henny - Gatorade comes in several flavors - the secret is to get it really cold and then it doesn't taste so icky. There is also a sugar free variety called G2 that comes in several flavors.
btw - you can still be "I am woman, watch me roar" and acknowledge that you are not immune to the laws of nature. Take care of yourself or it will take you longer to get back to full strength.

Lynn, How are things since Falls Creek? I know you guys were in town for the zoo. That is a fun thing to do but I like to go when it isn't so hot. I used to envy the hippos back when they had them.
