We had problems with the neighbors dogs getting in our yard and killing my birds, lost quite a few including three of my bourbon red turkeys. Most of the bodys were not mangled or anything. Kinda of looked like the dogs shook them to death.
Man I was so pi$$ed, stupid neighbor swears it was not his dogs even after we saw the things in our yard. That is not an issue anymore because we have llamas and they keep most of the animals at bay. Occasionally we loose one to hawks but that has been pretty rare.

Okcarla, I would of gladly brought you your eggs. My mail lady wont even try to deliver a package. Always sits in the PO overnight. Mary is super nice. My favorite person up there. I live on Jeffries drive behind Jeffries addition down on the creek.

quenston, Sounds like dogs to me also. I have had this happen to me. Seems all the wild critters are really looking for a free chicken dinner and always eat something. Yikes on the baby bear and momma lurking somewhere near by. How do you keep them out of your chickens????I have a bob cat thats been around here latley killing my wild turkeys and one of my hens that was out in the yard. I know a bob cat snatches and runs with one bird. Found a terapin?? in my coop yesterday dont know how he got in unless he went in while the door was open and the girls were out. Looked, no holes and DH and I reinforced the coop everwhere after the coon got in thru the closed back door. Had to add a latch at the bottom cause he pushed in the door at the bottom enough to squeese in. He could not however get back out. Just lucky it was cool out and I had the window open and heard the chickens screaming, or he probably would of killed them all.

Quenston - we had a badger do that kind of damage to our chickens one time. Sorry - hope you find the critter and pay it back. Cool pics on the bear, and I love the story about your daughter telling off the sheriff dept.!

I'm finding new and creative ways to avoid working...like hanging out on BYC! So busy? Sure!

Oh, and I have a 15 year old cat who has lost most of his teeth, so I spend a lot of time trying to keep him fed. He just licks the juice off of canned cat food, so I end up concocting all kinds of "tuna soup" and "baby food with chicken broth and Whiskas puree." I'm a cat chef!

I've got a guy out today and we have a little ongoing job that happens every few days. The next "big thing" is a week-long training session for a local manufacturer. That's in August...that's what I'm supposed to be getting ready for. But I'm having more fun researching handguns... Walther, XD or Glock?
