Well, I am back after having my little girl last Sunday.

Whew! She was 8lbs 12.2 oz. For me that is a huge baby. My first was only 6lbs 10oz. Feeling much better. Doctor still doesn't want me doing much. Stormi is doing great, eating, sleeping and making dirty diapers.
My husband was in charge of chicken care while I was unable and I am happy to say he did great. Even kept the little quail going for me. With this heat that is saying something. Trying to keep everyone watered and cool, but this weather is making the cool part impossible. Took forever to catch up on all of the happenings. Sorry to all who lost birds whether to heat or varmints. I've never looked forward to fall/winter like I am now. This heat is just miserable.

I have been dealing with weather issues as well. Poor Al, I got half in the bag last night and he had to listen to me rant. I am OK in the mornings, but in the afternoons I am just dead. I have been trying to keep hens from keeling over and have had technical issues with my hoses. Then I run the mister in the coop and it gets everything damp and I worry about bacteria. I can't win. From 3-7 in the afternoon I am out there juggling things trying to get it together. Yesterday I said screw it and just soaked hens with the hose... in the coop...I can hear them doing their scream/cluck thing when they pant and it makes me crazy. I told them yesterday to die if they were gonna, but do it QUIETLY. Nothing like compassion in a stock manager, huh? And everyday the NWS has the next day cooler and I wake up and check the dang weather and it's 108 again!!! For here that's 111-112. Never fails. Why don't they just say that we're all gonna roast for a month and have it over with. I like Al's idea about spitting in it's eye. But I guess I get too emotional. I end up screaming and cussing and bawling my eyes out. Mike just came in and told me he hauled a hen out this morning. It starts already.....

I just got back from my trip - it was so much fun

Lost a few chicks during my departure, but I also had my first all-natural (broody hen) hatch for the season

Now I've got to try and catch up on all the missed posts
