NNbreeder Thanks so much for the links this morning. I really enjoyed them. Keeping them in my favs, hope to copy some off soon. I love the indian music. My daughter is a card carring, roll numbered member of the Cherokee Tribe. I have always tried to get her to keep an interest in that side of her life and heritage.I sent the link to her and know she will enjoy it. Thanks again.

P&B - Thanks for addressing that. We had talked about it a
ways back and I wouldn't have had a clue where to find it.
Is a "whole 'nuther ballgame" when you get into "wild birds"......
Anything that you "turn loose" into the wild after hatching it,
has to have been VET checked.....thus...protecting our native
wild birds.

We went through all this "stuff" several years ago and decided
to "let 'er be".....LOL

And, FYI, all this "stuff" includes the "Butler Bobwhites" and
any/all Bobwhites. You can hatch them for "your own use"....
with the $10 permit, but you cannot release them into the wild.

YUP..... "red tape" rules.............................

Have a good one !

Evening to all--Can someone tell me about building your own incubator. I have been hatching eggs in the styrophome bators without a turner and frankly I'm sick of it. I want something that will hold a bunch, and will turn itself. I've watched forever for a reasonable priced sportsman, etc. but as of yet haven't found one I could afford.

Is there info on BYC that will tell ways to make your own? Is it cheaper than buying one? Can you buy the turners for them? Someone please give me a suggestion. I don't like running several bators and turning all those eggs. Thanks

I cant imagine how excited you must be I am jealous lol Good luck on the remaining hatch!!!

I actually sat nose-pressed to the window for the 30 minutes that it took for the second one to hatch. My husband thinks that I'm crazy but he keeps running back and forth to check on them.

How many eggs do you plan to hatch at one time ??, we will have a ton of info and even some parts for sale at POOPS to possibly build your decent sized one.

smf : That is the most fun part sitting there watching them start their new life, except I can't seem to get my head in there for the girls stay there ooouuuing & aaahhhhing the whole time. I guess that's why I put a big window on my incubator.

Al--Woo Hoo! I should of known you could help me. I had 6 bators going this summer and I swore I would not do that again. I have one full now with quail, ducks, and banties. I would like to be able to do up to 150 or so. I don't mind using the styrophome ones but I want to be able to put the most of them in a bator that will basically take care of itself and use the phome ones for smaller batches. I don't know for sure where were going with this chicken thing yet. We could possibly be moving to my folks place and would have the dream place to hatch. They have a HUGE metal building that would be awesome. If that works out look out chickens, here comes memaw. My husband thinks I'm crazy now for going this wild. LOL
