HA HA I am in the same boat our babies RIR and BR's were born 4 weeks ago as of Tuesday and they are getting to big to be in the house plus they are getting over crowded... in just the first floor of the Rabbit Hutch, so this evening I have them outside right now in both section of the hutch on the ground and they are LOVING IT!! I am wondering if we put them in their "hutch" Inside the coop and keep their brooder light on them they would do fine...

Thanks for your thoughts its appreciated

sundowner - you aren't lying about it being wierd. never been asked or shown permits for cotournix...always seen it on bob's...varies with the pheasants...depending on what state I was in...but all in all it makes you realize lots goes into how they read the codes...I sell eggs all the time and even birds never had an issue and I ain't scared...but will agree they do eat good!

I am looking for buttons again and will be ordering vast numbers of eggs soon...

I band pigeons...use the official bands you get from the association

looks like a mountain lion....
I give up... Glad I tryed to find it with
a stick... Poison oak or someting..... I will
just keep them on lock down I guess...
Mountain Lion..... They saw a mountain lion...
with my chicken... Neighbors......

What you are saying makes sense, since when I tried to find the law as it was when I got my non-commercial breeder's license about 4 years ago, I couldn't find the definition of wildlife as it used to be described. In fact, no distinction now appears to be made regarding the variety of quail that are raised.

I will go back into the Department of Wildlife rules using the Secretary of State's code of rules and changes to the rules and see if I can figure out where and when the law was changed.

When I got my non-commercial breeder's license the game warden came out and looked at my flight pen, approved it and told me to fill out the annual paperwork that is required for recordkeeping. I didn't think it was difficult to obtain the license.

Evening All,

I finished the coop & run for my egg layers today, posted about it in the coops section here:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=238856

Also went to work on my breeder pens today (referrenced in the above link with a photo). If you live in the Claremore area you've probably seen these at Stillwater Milling, they are 6 x 12 port-a-huts that I'm adding 6 x 8 foot runs to. I'll put in a roost and some nest boxes, a rooster & 3 or 4 hens and let mother nature take care of the rest.

Speaking of a rooster & 4 hens, I'm hoping to find some pure breed chickens locally. Any of the breeds that lay big brown eggs will do, RIR, BO... whatever. So if anyone has a young rooster and 4 ready to start laying any day now pullets in my neck of the woods, I'm interested and would probably be ready to buy them in a day or two or three.

Best Regards,

Matt

great looking coops - you did a' great job building on to your shed and the port of huts are an interesting idea for the chickens. Will you have to move them to clean inside? I couldn't tell how tall they might be from the picture.

If you don't find your pullets and rooster in the next few weeks, you might have better luck at POOPS. Just ask Buckguy to put them on the "wish list"

Thanks! Nope, I shouldn't have to move them to clean them out. The run will be 6 foot wide & 8 foot long coming off the front opening & it will have a gate just like the big coop run has.. The port-a-hut (and run) is about 5 foot tall. I built the basic 2 x 4 frame today for the first one, should have photos of it tomorrow. I'll cover all sides of the run, including the top, with chicken wire. I think it should make for a nice breeder pen, the openings are pointing South and the North ends can be opened or closed.

don't forget the opportunity for "transport" from someone near you who is attending POOPS. We had donations of hatching eggs, chicks, etc. brought to POOPS this past spring by Okies who lived close to someone who had a donation and couldn't make it to POOPS. We sent birds and DE home with others to deliver. At the June NPIP class, we made several exchanges on behalf of folks who were unable to attend. You just need to get the details worked out ahead of time, including whose cages will be used and where you will meet to make the exchange. Remember - this group is full of "enablers"
