sundowner - you aren't lying about it being wierd. never been asked or shown permits for cotournix...always seen it on bob's...varies with the pheasants...depending on what state I was in...but all in all it makes you realize lots goes into how they read the codes...I sell eggs all the time and even birds never had an issue and I ain't scared...but will agree they do eat good!

I am looking for buttons again and will be ordering vast numbers of eggs soon...

Evening All,

I finished the coop & run for my egg layers today, posted about it in the coops section here:

Also went to work on my breeder pens today (referrenced in the above link with a photo). If you live in the Claremore area you've probably seen these at Stillwater Milling, they are 6 x 12 port-a-huts that I'm adding 6 x 8 foot runs to. I'll put in a roost and some nest boxes, a rooster & 3 or 4 hens and let mother nature take care of the rest.

Speaking of a rooster & 4 hens, I'm hoping to find some pure breed chickens locally. Any of the breeds that lay big brown eggs will do, RIR, BO... whatever. So if anyone has a young rooster and 4 ready to start laying any day now pullets in my neck of the woods, I'm interested and would probably be ready to buy them in a day or two or three.

Thanks! Nope, I shouldn't have to move them to clean them out. The run will be 6 foot wide & 8 foot long coming off the front opening & it will have a gate just like the big coop run has.. The port-a-hut (and run) is about 5 foot tall. I built the basic 2 x 4 frame today for the first one, should have photos of it tomorrow. I'll cover all sides of the run, including the top, with chicken wire. I think it should make for a nice breeder pen, the openings are pointing South and the North ends can be opened or closed.
