Talked to Big Al for awhile yesterday on the ups and downs of chickens and life...what is it about chickens that make ya pensive? Going to post some pics here in a bit of my "leftovers" from Cement. I too was low about the prices. Our auctioneer waited till mine were up to announce it was late and he was gonna start "slingin' chickens". Oh well.

Got more for my egg cartons than I did for birds.... but I don't have to pay to feed them anymore... My pearl and blue roos brought $1.50 a piece. And they were showy.

Good morning Okies! How is everybody? I have to share a quick story on my wife. We tried to introduce the last batch of chicks into the next youngest flock and after a week or 2 had a problem with one of the red silkies. She? just seem kind of lethargic and was getting run over a lot, not picked on just trampled. We brought it in the house to recoup and it ate, drank, pooped, and got around just fine so we put it back in at night due to daytime heat. The next afternoon, same problem with the same results, both on recoup and re-entry. She asks what are we gonna do with it and I jokingly said, "well they have chicken diapers."

It's in the house now "free-ranging".

The other smaller silkie is with the others?

Just setting here waiting for a guy from Tulsa to come pick up the rest of my birds, He got all he could hall on wed. and said he would be back today..So we will be out of the chicken Business until spring.. we were going to keep a few then decided to get rid of them all and start over with the kind that we really want next spring after we rework all the Pens..so that they have better living conditions..We grew so fast this year I just put up pens to hold birds, over the winter I will get it all worked out.

Hi everyone as you know the fall P.O.O.P.S will be Sept. 26th. It has been decided that we would have a Pot luck lunch & dinner! We are looking for foods that are just as good cold as they are hot.

We will have limited outlets for crock pots if that is something you might be interested in. We will also have limited space to keep things cool between lunch and dinner, so if you bring something that needs to be kept cool make arrangements for that. For some folks that travel you could possibly have your ingredients made and put them together on site. Keep in mind the number of people that will be attending when making your dish or dishes.

We will also need paper goods, silverware & drinks. I have a couple of large igloo coolers that can be used for tea & kool-aid. If you have an one we could use let me know. I will need volunteers for set up before each meal along with volunteers for clean up after.

Please contact (PM) myself or TJ’s Nana if you have any questions or if you need a suggestion as to what you can bring. I will keep a running list of items.

Just a check in Henny did you ever find out what was wrong with your birds when they had the crud? I have a few over here that are coughing and acting sick. I took one to the vet this morning and he culled it and we are sending it to OSU to find out what is wrong. It is going to cost 50.00 but, I would rather pay that and know what is going on. I am a worrier and I think I will always wonder what it is if I don't know.

Anyhow have fun at POOPS all. I hope the rain stays away.

I know Grace won the All Others Standard Class Champion Open title with I think a Ameraucana rooster. Pretty much the All Others (4-H & Open) was just Grace and my family competing against each other. Carla supplied both sides with ammunition (birds).

I couldn't sleep last night because I was too excited so today my memory is shot. Sorry I couldn't provide more information. I did see Grace writing a list so I know she is more prepared than I am.
