My own stupid fault for not paying attention. I put a drop or two of Ivermectin (pour on) on the back of the neck between the shoulders of the remaining chicks and no more lice.
No, Poultry Lice can not survive for long on anything other than poultry. You might find one crawling on you at some point after having handled poultry, but they can not live on you like regular ole' human type lice.

Here is a fun little book you may find revealing...

Sooner, that was my book and it is the Storey's illustrated guide to Poultry Breeds by Carol Ekarius. She writes a lot chicken books.
I like but it doesn't have every breed. It is a good book though.
I would like to go to a book store and sit down with allof the chicken books and then buy the best one.

I am in the same boat. I didn't write them down so am not sure to what all I've committed to. Just let me know.
Carah remember you want all the chicks I can hatch and Donna you asked me to save you all of my young roosters and at least 100 quail.
Man this is easy pickens.
Oh for once the wind is really not blowing to much here. Not bad that is. hey Monty remember in the spring when it really was. But wait a minute it might start up. I need to burn trash but might wait till tomorrow.
That is good chicken lice cant live on us. I have the Storeys book also but someone has it right now. Maybe Ill get it back soon. No hurry tho.
Ivermectin I can get that at the local feed store that is good to know. Just a drop or 2 on say a 6-8 lb chicken. What about the turkeys? Do they need it also. Not even going to ask about the guineas. No way I can catch them buggers, but seems the coyote and dog can.
Had the life just scared out of me, the window is open and fan going for some fresh air and guess what................. the wind picked up. I thought something was coming thru the window.
For lice and other blood suckers (except relatives) I use Eprinex...I/2 CC to 1/4 CC depending on size of birds...(LF and Banties).... on the back of the neck by the shoulders at night when they are on roost. No withdrawal period for eggs... I have Ivermectin for bigger threats, but have only used it a couple of times.
Good evening everyone, I have caught the crud that seems to be going around left work early but am feeling better now, hope everyone else had a great day!!! Goin to a auction this weekend may have to downsize a little more come POOPS time.
Andis - so glad you know what it is. Do you guys know if DE will kill the suckers? I mix DE in their food and sprinkle it in their house and run. It is one thing I am liberal about.
