Ohhh I know what you mean fast hatching little buggars. I have tapped out at about 40 hatched out, the others look to be done/Quiters Some eggs I may have kept too long, I also moved the chicken eggs to the hatching tray last night, so I am moving right along. I don't expect as big a hatch as I thought I'd have but thats Ok, I think one of my best Roosters may need some rooster Viagra LOL.

They sell Rooster Booster at 7/11 but I think it is meant for humans.
It is an energy drink.

Why, thank you, Al. But no, I learned my lesson to never again go to an auction without cages, even if I am driving the car. My wife didn't kill me last time for carrying loose chickens in the back seat of her car, but...

I'm pretty sure we will be bringing the truck this time, anyway.

Oh Buster, just the mention of your incident just brings me to stitches of laughter.

Monty---Is this your first hatch of quail? IF so you will be shocked at how fast they grow. It's almost like seeing them grow overnight.

No i Have hatched several. It always amazes me how fast they hatch, how small they are and how fast the grow and how much they eat.

Hello Okies, how's it going? Congrats on quail, disease diagnosis, good book, etc. Have a great weekend all and happy auctioning.

First, take a deep breath and then let it go. I know, it's easy for me to say, I'm not the one with the eggs in the 'bator. Don't worry about a thing, it will be just fine. Yes, resting them pointy end down would have been best, especially with shipped eggs, but it isn't the end of the world. As others can attest to here, and as seen in other threads, some hatches you can do absolutely everything wrong (sometimes intentionally?) and it will turn out one of your best hatches ever. Just have fun and enjoy the journey. (The anticipation can be killer sometimes.)

On the candler, Buster has a good suggestion that I used similar with a piece of dark insulating foam on the flashlight head to form an egg cup to seal the light. That is a good, low cost alternative, but from my experience the best is the egg lume http://www.cutlersupply.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_95&products_id=614 . Can't beat it for seeing through those chocolate eggs. Fortunately, I was able to borrow one for a while when I need it because I don't have the extra cash laying around for a light!

No rain yet today looking ok though. No I am just working on getting both my Parent Flocks up and going. This is going to be a long and tenuous journey, I am looking forward to the challenges and reseach so I may have some hatching news by the spring. K your memory is good LOL.

Yea, mind like a steel trap, you just never know what it might catch.

I did hear about the good find at Cement a while back on the Rocks. Any report back from the resident expert (Stimpy) on his take? Congrats, by the way. I have a neighbor in the market for some good white rocks, let me know if you ever have any eggs in abundance or info for the CA people that they came from.
