I started at about 10am and had it built by the end of the day, then put the wire on the next morning and had the chickens in it by noon. I goofed off a lot the day I built it, I'm really pretty lazy ... really.

When you build yours if you don't put the roof on til the very last you can lay the entire coop on it's side and put the wire on, makes it a little easier and faster, wish I had a staple gun, I use regular ones that you hammer in.

Matt

I will remember to keep the top off till the end. Thanks! I think we have a staple gun if not I can get one. I have already cut most of the wood and will be doing more in the morning while waiting on DH. As for the wire I already have it so I may get that pre-cut too....we will see.

Attaching wire is a snap now for me. I use 1/4x3/4 strips cut from a 1x with the rip fence on the saw. Then I pre-drill the holes, get everything cut to fit and apply Gorilla Glue and screw it on. I just cover the edge of the wire like framing a picture.

I'm not sure I understand that but maybe DH will......I am blonde tonight for sure.

Hey NN I read on here about treating your birds for worm with CHyenn pepper, do you know anything on that??? I am thinking I should treat my birds even tho I don't see any evidence of it considering I have cows, horses & goats all around me.

Your thoughts sir?

I used to converse with an older gent in Fla. that had always used the Ceyenne pepper as a wormer. He ate his culls and claimed he had never found a round worm in birds he had butchered.

Birds have no recepter for the hot sensation in their mouths so they don't know it's hot.

Treated feed will also be shunned by mice.

Ill let you know! School nurse called me at work an I had my daughter out of school by noon Wedsnday. She starts to do better then the drainage gags or coughs her tills he sicks up. The fever comes and goes. Most the time she only feels a little off then it times to dose her with medicine. I think my wife may be taking her to the DR tommarow. All they will do is give her antibiotics (never fails with the indian hospital) and she will leave with an ear infection (i think thats there escuse for all the amoxicylin they give away) no matter if her ear hurts or not. Right now id be more worried leaving the hospital with something worse than I went in with. I hope your youngone gets better and the babie avoids it all together. Hope you dont catch it as well.

Thank you. I hope yours gets better and stays that way. It's so hard having little ones get sick.

I think Madison will show them and I might if I find a small show around here. They are doing good but i feel bad that they are still in the cage. If you saw the pic's Matt posted that is what I am building for them.

Any idea's on where you might show??? I still need to get a cage to transport them in. The one I have is so big!

You can mix the Cayenne pepper in with the feed all the time if you want. My friend just used 1 teaspoon per bird once a week.

Usually a really bad infestation needs to be cleared chemically first then use natural wormers such as the pepper or food grade DE as maintainence.
