I had planned on turning it into a duplex but I' not sure if that's a good idea. The small size of it makes it easy to move to fresh grass, so maybe I'll just build two more, one for the black pair and one for the blue breasted red trio.

My BB Reds use the roost, but have not used the nest box thus far. They might be a little to young still

Sulmet is for Cocci, if you can't notice any pattern to the sneezing like dusty bedding or feed then I would give them Terrimycin in the water for about four days and see if that perks them up.

Thanks for responding Les. We have been losing a few each day but I thought it was because of overcrowding...they just bunch up so tight. Anyway, my DH said that 3 of the teenagers had one eye shut and act like they just don't feel good. I started to use the terramyacin but wasn't sure...I'll try that.

I keep wondering if there is something in the the little shed we have them in. Last summer when we kept losing them it was in this same shed. I have no idea what it would be though.

I have a friend over in Hawaii that had a bad infestation of mites and she tried Sevin dust (worked kinda) And then switched to 10% Permethrin (worked even better) and then she swapped to a propane burner and caulked all of the joints on the coop plus eliminated a lot of pavers and such that they could hide under. There her main problem was the lava rock having all the tiny holes in it.

Here all you would need is the 10% Permethrin and tightening up the joints in the coop.

Smith's supply up in Ks has the spray, are good to deal with and will be at the Shawnee show in Dec.

MAllen I plan to do the same, but I was thinking of using a tarp or something like that for closing the bottom to stop the draft in the winter. I have even considered putting plywood in the bottom and making it just like the top. The way the bottom is I could have a set in the top and in the bottom.

Les...I neglected getting back over to your stand and getting one of your booklets. I was too busy fighting it out with Tina and forgot to come back over there. Dang...I'm sure all these answers are in there. Is there a way I can get a copy now....or is it you snooze you lose? LOL

I have also started a 3 ring binder with info on my birds (ages, breeder or where it came from) and general info that I can have on hand (LES handout) and not have to try to remember where I read it.
