Evenin Ya'll,

I need a pure RIR roo for my RIR hens. Would like to find one that's about 15 to 20 weeks old. I have this 22 week old NHR to trade or I can buy him outright. Anyone have a RIR Roo to spare??

O', yes I know that's not a RIR hen

I also have 'bout 25 quail, Tenn. Reds and Georgia Giant bobwhites that I can trade off. Still looking for a BB Red roo also.

I used to want to do that until I got bucked off of my mare a couple years ago.

That's why they call it a "bucket list". Something she wants to do before she kicks the bucket!

I'm about 25 minutes west of Tulsa, and I have a nice flock of White, black, blue, gray, splash, porcelain and partridge silkies. I should have a nice bunch of chicks in the spring if you'd like to come out and take your pick rather than ordering hatchery quality. My flock is NPIP certified, and I'm hatching some really nice birds. My prices will vary depending on quality.

Hi crazy lady! I'm glad you found us, too. BetsyOK does have some great silkies. She brought some to the last POOPS and I kept commenting about how nice they were. She said the ones she had there were not her best, so I'll bet the ones she has at home are really pretty! For sure better quality than hatchery stock!

TJ's Na-Na :

And, did want to mention, too - I don't have a clue who donated
the beautiful "Feed Mill" advertising shirt to the POOPS raffle.
I wore it as an over-shirt at Tulsa. The shirt got as much
attention as any of the chickens did ....LOL I love it ! So,
whoever, Thanks Bunches !

I second Na-Na's "great shirt" thought. She was wearing it over her POOPS shirt at the Fair on Saturday, and when I gave her a hug I tried to wriggle it off her to steal it, but she's too quick for me...!

Hmmm.... that would make it more difficult to be pulled off too. Thanks Les!

He is probably doing that to protect the birds from any sharp wire sticking out that wont lay lown and could injure or scrape feathers. It makes allot of sense I have done it on my big pen doors to protect me when going in & out.

AL

It also gives the little bugs such as mites and lice no place to hide, mites especially will feed on the birds while roosting and then retreat to cracks in the coop during the day. A mite has only got to feed once every 30 days.

I agree--anything that couples do together, that they love, is FANTASTIC for relationship building. Vern got me into the chickens and I am SO glad that he did! Of course, it wasn't much of a shove to get me to agree to getting more creatures...we already have 1 Scottie, a black cat, 2 horses (a Percheron and an aged QH mare) a fainting goat and too many chickens to count! LOL! I do love my critters!

so what can you treat the inside of the coop with to prevent or kill lice and mites??

Classes are held in June for 1st timers. You have to re certify annually. I'll look up the website for you.

Edited to add:

Call (405) 521-3864 to get on the class list. This is through the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry.

Back in my younger days I rode bulls for awhile but the most sore I have ever been was from riding one of the mechanical bulls. I thought my arm had been pulled off of my body.

Just getting started~

I opted to go with a solid back for top & bottom for extra warmth during the winter months.
