Al - it sounds like you do alot of the cooking at your house!? My husband does most of the cooking here and when it comes to holidays we are usually in the kitchen together running over each other...lol

We trade off he does most of the cooking but there are somethings he just cant cook, usually food he really likes. He gets in a hurry trying to cook as he is ready to eat it, so I am in charge of cooking everything he cant. Its a pretty good deal as I only have to cook once or twice a week.

That sounds like a wonderful recipe for ham. I am going to try that. I like to fix ham anytime of the year, and usually buy a couple when they go on sale around Easter. We had two pigs butchered this year and have been very disappointed in the flavor of the ham. It is only good in pinto beans - not too wonderful by itself, but I may see if I can improve the flavor with your suggestion of brown sugar and brandy. Thanks!

Dont try to go sparingly, I like alot, I make 2 or 3 cuts deep into the ham, then pour full until it runs out the top.

LOL...... I have 5 kids and am usually in charge of the turkey and the ham, I dont have time to dote after it... lol.... I pull it apart and put it on a serving platter so everybody smells it before it hits the table.

LOL I see your point, so your saying when it hit's the table watch out for your fingers.

AL

Definately!, we made the turkey one year for our family gathering on my side of the family, all my moms brothers and sisters and their kids, and we have been in charge of it ever since. That was 12 years ago.

Morning all.

We do the traditional T-day feast, most of the time it is just Me and Lynn, my mom and sister and maybe a stray kid or 2 ( i dont insist they spend thanksgiving with me but I do insist I get them for Christmas). Plus my brother is coming home for Thanksgiving this year so we will do it up right. He will probably want to fry a turkey also. If so we will get out the vacuum thing and send people home with left over meat. Yummy, I do see some enchiladas in the future.

Then we do a prime rib, scalloped potatoes , baked beans home made bread and pea salad and call it good.

I am slow and low on cooking a turkey. I do plan to butcher one of mine for this year, and will probably smoke it. I inject the turkey with a garlic butter garlic mixture. (that would be lots of garlic)Then lay sliced onions all over the bird.

Hiya,
You will have to drive further to see the sun. I did see it for a little bit yesterday. But you can drive to see the deer. I told Lynn he needs to get one. He just said how can you even think that that would be like eating your dog ( he thinks they are pets now) GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Morning Okies,
Just a quick post to say hi. And update on my daughter. She seems to be healing up rather well, Thank God for the wonderful folk at the OU medical center!! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers in our time of need!!

Don't know if anyone may be interested but someone in Marlow
has a post on the Lawton Craigslist for french cuckoo marans, rr hens and barred rock( i think) for 5.00 each.

Have a wonderful day!

Kimphill I am glad your daughter is doing good!

Ya'll are killing me with all the food talk! I am not much on turkey but love ham. One of the best ham glazes that I have come up with is frozen orange juice & brown sugar with whatever spices you like. It's the best.

Have a great Okie day!
