I can't believe everyone is hatching in October! I have my two 3 week chicks in the garage, and to me that is stressful. I'm real worried about putting them outside in November.

I've been up since 7, yay me! AND I didn't go to bed til 2! I'm showin the sun who's boss. Lol

Can't remember if I told this story a while back, but I'll tell it again. My aunt said that my uncle Bill went dove hunting one time. He ended up hitting one in the wing; bad enough that it couldn't fly, but not enough to kill it. So he took it to the vet.

What went wrong with your incubator? You might take some pictures of it particularly of the thermostat and heat source. Several people on here have made their own so you might be able to get some good pointers to get your stabilized for next time.

I already went into detail in another post

I've sent pix to a couple people privately on another list. Sad thing is it really does look fine... but something is not fine.

Thanks.

I have a pair like that. I call them my Francisco pair. I got those at an auction and they were called a pair. I guess it was a pair as in two not as in breeding pair. Anyway, those two aren't dubbed either. I'm still excited about them because them are Fawn Silver Duckwings which is a very uncommon color (read not APA recognized). They need a lot of improving though(especially on the legs).

They do have a very sweet personality. They aren't loud at all. I think MGs or OEGs make excellent birds for Showmanship. A small handful for the kids that easily calms down.

Let me look in the closet tomorrow, What I have is definatly not pretty but it will still work. You would have to turn the eggs by hand too as I don't have any spare turners.

That's amazing nnbreeder! We definitely have an awesome bunch here looking out for each other! I think that is at the heart of what the BYC is for...

I've got five more in the coop right now. They hatched the day after POOPS. They are really cute. I've even got one that is crested!!! You know you want 'em. Come get 'em.

I need a duck, a big 'ol mean owl took one of my wife's two ducks a few nights ago. But I want to wait and see if the one we have is a boy or a girl.

Today is day #19 for my 47 eggs bantam hatch. I've been playing happy hatching music for them on the piano, nothing yet.

And today is 24 weeks old for my three oldest hens... no eggs yet, I think they are a little lazy.

MAllen...I have a ton of ducks that you are welcome to. If you want to bring your wife over and let her pick one out sometime you're welcome to. I only live north of Claremore or if your cut through the hills you're probably 6 or 7 miles from me.

Just let me know.

You're so sweet! I enjoyed turning the eggs with this batch... I'm pretty darned quick iffn I do say so myself (in my best Okie accent

).

You can turn the eggs by tilting the incubator from side to side. Just get a nice sided stable block. Makes it quick and easy and you don't lose any temp or humidity from opening it.

Edit to add:

You can place the eggs in an egg carton so they don't roll around. Be sure and put them pointed end down.

faerielady if it is the incubator that I think it is, I made one last spring but didnt' get to do a true test on it. I didn't have a temp problem with the eggs that I had in it. If you decide to try again, let me know I will send you (or bring) you some mutt eggs so you won't be out the expense.

Story on my eggs, they were carried in a warm towel & ice chest from OKC with only 1 of the 4 or 5 (can't remember) that was fertile and it quit on me.
