My ex-neighbor's pit mixes almost got to my coop about 1 1/2 years ago... I got out there in time. After I racked the shotgun and told him that I'd shoot his dogs as they came over the fence if it happened again, he put in electric fencing around his entire back yard perimeter (three wires at different heights).

He moved out about 8 months ago. Now that the house is in foreclosure, don't know who/what is gonna end up in there next.

Shoot the dogs, then shoot the owners.

Need more bullets...

ain't no enforcement on dog issues the police chief feeds them forever or until he takes them home

my dogs got out awhile back. Guy said your dogs are out and have been at the Coop all day...I kept having to run them off...I said...you knew they were my dogs and you didn't call me?...my dogs don't roam...they were missed

there are two different Standards, the color version and the black and white.

For chooseing birds for type the B/W is the best because you can see how the bird is supposed to look as far as the shape of the body and how it stands, (carriage or station)

The most important section is not the breeds pages it's the section called "cutting For Defects". Those pages lists the defects that will disqualify the bird that you are planning to show. Plus that section lists what is just a defect that will deduct overall points. There are also sections for plumage patterns and colors plus other good general info.

Amazon says it is "out of print" so maybe they are getting ready to issue an updated one since the 2001 version has been around awhile. Of course, until they vote on new standards for various breeds, it will be in date. It would be interesting to know how often they have issued them in the past, but I think that when I bought my book in about 2002, I was under the impression it would be the current version for a long enough time, which I thought justified the expense at the time. There may have been some new colors recognized as "standard" since it was last printed. ( Note: I am speaking way over my level of knowlege on this topic.)

I don't think they are adding any new breeds or varieties to the new edition. Just adding some more artwork. Don't quote me on that..

When I was searching for it in different locations, I came across versions from the 50's and the 80's, but not so many versions that I think it is reprinted on a schedule of every ??? many years. Probably your best bet would be to contact the American Poultry Association and ask them when the next version is scheduled to be printed.
I did see that it is available from several poultry supply places, so if you want to buy one, you might check with a supply place that will be a vendor at Shawnee and see if they will deliver it to the show and save the postage.

I must admit that the color pictures are way cool.
