Allen : I think you can call that a good hatch, good to hear your realistic about the numbers. You did get quite the variety there, you should have a good time watching them develop in nice birds.

WOW I had no idea, at least you have the foritude to try and get it handled, I applaud your diligence.

Thanks AL. I just have to keep reminding myself that it won't be for much longer. Maybe another 6 months. Until then, I have "Saturdays for Sanity" :) You won't believe how hard I had to fight to find a place that was willing to let me work Sundays but not Saturdays.

Thanks Al. Yea, I think it came out OK in the end. It was really more of a test run to get myself accustomed to the new Dickey incubator. I'm really only interested in 3, maybe 4 of the breeds that hatched & the rest I'll either sell off or let them be bug catchers. In the long run I'll probably sell some hatching eggs and offspring myself, so I'll probably turn a profit from this hatch.

I have Lacey Roundheads and Pinnon Greys hatching on the 24th, Law Grey hatching on Nov 4th, and a bunch of RIR's hatching on Nov 6th.

Sorry but any bird that has lacey anywhere in it's name cannot be "MANLY"!

While they were a top pit breed back in the day, and still are in many countries, I breed only for show, and show them I will. In the shows they will continue to kick feathered fluffy butts & take initials... we aint slowin down long enough to take full names.... <insert a not so evil grin & laugh here>

(Edited a second time to better conform to the BYC rules, sorry if I ruffled any feathers out there....)

Stimpy,

The first rock has pipped and it's a vocal peeper! It's a very strong chick but of course we've seen pictures of the parents so it's no wonder. The egg is nearly jumping right now.

This is almost a full 2 days before hatch day.

I sure need to downsize on young guineas & a few other birds. Hopefully I can get around to posting some birds on craigslist tomorrow & maybe I can get some sold. Our feed bill is sky high

I haven't been on the computer much lately. I guess I'll go back & read the past few days posts now to catch up on everything.

The first one is hatching right now. When I posted about it, the chick had just made a pipp. It's already zipped a quarter of the way.

It's making a lot of noise and I believe it's saying it wants out now!

I did look into the AGB's but decided not to get them, if I'm going to work with this type bird I'd just as soon work with the full size versions and OEGB's. I would like to go to the game show, but as usual I won't know if I can until the date gets a little closer and I see if getting off work for it is possible.

Hi Al, I'm feeling great today. Gerald and I took off work so that we could enjoy a fine Friday. Garage sales in the morning, a nap in the afternoon and then a great high school football game to top it off.

Thank goodness I don't have to work overtime this weekend! I can rest and most importantly I can get some birds moved around this weekend.

Not yet. I figure he'll come around eventually. He enjoys visiting with everyone at the auctions, so surely he'll want to see everyone soon. I may eventually need fellow Okie assistance in convincing him that auctions are good

I'm hoping to go to the Shawnee Show in December.
