Maria and I went out to the brooder this evenin and there was a small moth that had landed in the waterer. I thought it was dead but when I picked it up by it's wings the little guys legs went to wigglin. I held him down close to the floor of the brooder and one of the 28 bantam chicks ran over and snatched him from my fingers..... AND THE RACE WAS ON!!!

He had all the other chicks chasin him all over the brooder, one would grab it from him and then they would all chase that one, over and over, until one of them finally ate it.

Maria laughed so hard I though she was gonna pass smooth out!!

What Buster said - surely you're not talking about your house...?!

LOL... Sorry guys.... we are safe and secure. Yes I was talking about the coop....on the other hand I don't get the dang snarkies every time the sky leaks....

Good, 'cause this ex-roofer was ready to haul his old shingling axe out of mothballs along with the rest of his tools and head for Victory.

You outta try it with something bigger. It is funny to watch 3 week old chicks play footbal with a full grown cicada.

Henny I told Teva, the wife, about the worms and described the pics you posted. She said "so how many does she need to replace the ones that didn't make it?" I told her they all made it but one. Teva just could not believe that. Neither one of us has ever seen a live bird with that kind of infestation.

Isn't it funny how they want what the other chicken already has, even if there's enough treats for everyone? "What SHE has must be better than what you're offering me!"

I meant to say "hey y'all".

Today was my birthday. The candles on my cake set off the fire alarm and the sprinklers ruined my new slippers. Other than that, I'm ok.

Lou bought me a hi-def dvd player w/ surround sound and it kicks a$$.

And just to stay on the safe side ... chickens !

Wow....they are puttering along pretty good....I guess that would make them pretty weak then, huh? Poor things.

My heart just sank when I seen the pic of the blood spot. I just knew that you were going to lose the flock. Chickens rebound fast so that is on your side and winter is holding off just a tad so that is another plus.
