Nope, that is a 100% pure Law Grey. He is the brood cock that produced the eggs I have in my incubator that will hatch on Nov 6th. I'm going to keep a pure bloodline out of him.

I just got a trio of jimmy east grays but the problem is they are having blue offspring so something is a little fishy.

Hmmm, yea that does seem a little odd. It's common to get a sport now and then but if it's happening with any regularity I would say the hen is suspect.

Donna, I have some very nice pens made out of dog kennels reinforced with wire, with chain link over the top plus shelters inside. I also have some pens that would make Fred Sanford cringe with embarrassment..
THe simplist pen I have ever built is made out of 8 foot 2x4's. You can make the pens 8'x8'x8' without ever making a cut. Then just add wire. The door is the only hard part and it really isn't that hard to make.

You can make them out of 2x4's and with just making one straight cut per board make 2 pens that are 4'x4'x4'. Or 8'x8'x4'. Framing 2x4's are usually. only a few bucks each.
I would say about 80 percent of my pens are made out of used wire, wood and sheet iron.

Alright, now I'm getting confused. I thought the build came from the hen and the color from the cock.

Are you saying the color comes from the hen?

You know you need to improve your lines. (Or start a new one. Whichever the case may be.)

Color comes from both actually, but usually it's the hen that's hiding things like "blue".

In my case, either one would work as an excuse!

I have no idea why some do? but I lived on 20 acres as a child and we NEVER did that... different strokes for different folks.. sadly this person (myself) does not appreciate picking up immunization needles from the previous owners... How can you not be clean knowing that leaving that kinda stuff on the floor is a health hazard to your animals and a person if left to become germy ect...

Also this past weekend jason and our 9 year old son were working very hard to remove the dry manure and old hay left under the loafing shed from the sheep they kept... lets just say... we found a old cooking pot buried under all this manure and hay 1 foot down from the top of it all... and they are still not done cleaning out the stuff... its almost like digging for a dinosaur... Or maybe we will locate an extinct chicken... HA HA H A

That was my line of thinking as well. It comes from both but if it's hidden it's normally hidden by the hen.
