these chickens are called Golden Comets or red stars or red sex links, but they are the same breed pretty much. They are great layers of large med brown eggs, nice and docile. I would say a good breed to start with, I had some and liked them. As Cityclucks said get a nice variety of colored LF layers to start and see what you like best from them.

Do the comets have to have white? I have the prettiest copper pullets from my mutt collection. Really they look like newly minted coins in the sun. And they are so sweet....Arethey red sex links....Got Rex (NHR) as papa...red hens, BOs and BRs... I love them...the heck with fancy chickens

By the way Les... those showgirls.....

Samantha, I have some Rhode Island Reds and if you want some babies, I can get some to you in about 3 weeks. I only live about 45 minutes away. I was considering popping some in the incubator sometime soon anyway.

That is a very generous offer, Shavon! Rhode Island Reds are very pretty darker auburn birds - consistent layers of big brown eggs. Mine are some of the friendliest in my flock. I think you would be happy with this breed, Early - they are hardy, and as a bonus, they're the state bird of Rhode Island!

I just talked to my mom. She says she has a sore throat and feels feverish. Just after pneumonia.... fall used to be my favorite time of year.....*sigh*

Al, ya got a Corona? Did you ever drink that Coppola wine? Was it any good?

Mine came from Atwwods, who gets theirs from Ideal, so they aren't the dark reda color. I have some pics of them on my BYC page. They aren't great because I took them with my phone, but they do show their colors pretty well.
