Hey dachsunds! You must be getting the rain we've been having the past few days. I'm so glad you'll get to go to the Louisville show. Thanks for updating us on your hospital schedule - I'm praying they can "fix" you with the least amount of invasive procedure!

Cant wait till tomorrow to see y'all!!! Big Q. this is an off payday weekend for us too...but I forced Mikey to take me anyways...was so disappointed to have missed POOPS...I told Mikey I would use my change jar for gas and go without him if I had to!! But I was going!! He knew I was bummed out all POOPS weekend so he let me have my way....I think he thought I was gonna buy chickens!!! LOL...No more chickens!!!

It was 31 here this morning...38 with a wind chill. Brrrrr. Chickens seem to be hanging in there....little ones are getting blowed about some! Having my coffee and watching them out the door....my 2 month old EEs are a scream.... they run around in a herd..I hope my lil banties will be OK in the coop....I got them POOPS weekend at Atwoods... they are in a brooder with a lamp on them but it's still chilly. They ahve all their feathers...this cold is not supposed to last, so I'm hoping they will be OK....

Hope everyone is hanging in there....

Wish you were gonna be at Blanchard Dr. Les.....wanted to give ya a big hug for sticking by me with all my chicken troubles.....

Oh, I have to post a funny little story.

So J and I worked on the coop last night from about 8pm to right around midnight. We assembled the bottom and middle "frame" of 2x4s, then screwed in the front and back "legs". I had a terrible little suspicion after the frames were together and screwed to the legs... you see, all the plans I'd seen called for 2x4x8s cut in half, or a rectangle of 2x4x4/2x4x6. J and I didn't think... and cut the 2x4x10s we had in half. We now have a huge 5ft square coop... 5 foot tall on the front, 4 foot tall in the back.

J wants to know exactly how many chickens I plan on putting in there...

Gonna make piecing the roof interesting (we're going to end up shingling it... we have leftover shingle from when both our houses were re-roofed)... and the door frames. Luckily I'm at work, so THAT part is his job to figure out.

Morning all.......brrrrrrrrrrr it is cold out this morn........watered and fed the chickies......they were all still huddled round the light.......... checked the new little quail...........awww

lost all but 4.......but these 4 are running and jumping so think they will make it....... I still cant believe me hens just started to lay for me.I had 3 eggs yesterday

I am liking that...
