You sure have a lot of clucks! And a good variety too. Sure envy your dry sand in your pens. I don't think my pens have had a dry bottom since late winter. I am so tired of mud and muck. So how many do you have total. Do many people out there have clucks.

smfamf-The mutts are the chickens, I think you are talking about the the Buff Orp ducks. If the pekin wasn't my daughter's pet, the buffs would be all the we have.

If you count them then you know you're crazy, I like people just thinkin' it. Too many right now, probably 70+ laying flock and 35 chicken nuggets (cornish X). I'm doing my enabling best on everyone else, I hatched out 300+ and only kept these for myself. Ordered 115 meaties split between 5 families. Right now I can hear at least 5 (different 5 than the meat birds) flocks with roosters from my backyard in the morning. There are several people that have varied livestock here, including clucks. This is a small, still somewhat agricultural community though complete with alfalfa fields. That is the reason we moved here instead of Vegas. On variety, yes that is what my wife wanted. We have leghorns, marans, and hamburgs in multiple varieties; along with the delawares, kraienkoppes, wellies, BR, BO, RIW, seabright, d'uccles, silkie, cochin, and more. I really do need to downsize some though. Good luck on that, huh?

You know right where that is. We stop at the Amish store there. The Clarita/Bromide area. That is also where Aunt Linda goes to the auction. We just have busy or out of the area when it happens.

Pepper, I'll be processing a whole mess of birds in the next few weeks. Ask me after that.

But yeah, probably at some point in the coming year after all the chores slow down. Just harvested the last of my garden vegies today, will be downsizing my flocks soon, and should have most of the big construction projects done in the next month or so.

The Serverbator is the must-do project, though. Tired of these ding dang styrofoam bators. Once that is done and if I still have the energy and any cash left at all, then the plucker probably.
