P&B save this link. The thermo cube is only 12.50 here.
As for your deep litter method. I am not sure this will be my first year using them. I have read the post from the others that have used them with no trouble. I will most likely lay out two flat concrete blocks (not the two hole cinder blocks) with the tin on top of that then the waterer.
Thanks Sooner and Carla - I bookmarked the link. I use a lot of the 2 and 4 quart rubber tubs with my rabbits and have decided I like the Miller brand better than the other kind, and this company carries the brand I like. I think placing the water heater on a couple of concrete blocks, like paving stones, would be a good way to keep the heater out of the wood shavings.
I use the large, 6 gallon rubber tubs for chickens that are old enough to drink from them without falling in. In the winter, I can take a spade and break the top layer of ice pretty easily. If it gets too frozen, I turn it over and using the heel of my boot, stomp the bottom of rubber tub to empty out the ice. I tend to keep the water dish outside, except on the coldest of days, so the sun can hit it and thaw it out some in the afternoon.
In the past, I have used the plastic 3-5 gallon waterers with screw off lids, but over the years the sun has deteriorated the red hexagon pan at the bottom and cracked the plastic pans. I still use them sometimes by putting them in a metal feed pan.
