I may have to bend on my idea of only bantam cochins, RiRs, and Silkies. Those Law Greys are gorgeous.... every time I see your avatar, I want to reach through the screen and snatch it while yelling MINE!

Yea, they are purdy, but know what you're getting before you get them. The roosters are drop dead game. They have to be penned up & can't be kept together.

Oh, I didn't have time to get on but for a bit. I didn't see him. I sure need to ask him some questions about my sportsman and some hatching problems. SOMEBODY CALL THE DOCTOR!!!

Your Sportman and my Dickey incubators are about the same, what's the problem? Maybe I can help.

Well, we now have silver sebright, wheaten OEGB, silver duckwing OEGB, black rosecomb, blue rosecomb, BBR rosecomb, mille fleur d'uccle, blue splash bantam cochin, white, partridge black, blue & splash silkie chickens. The only banties laying right now are the silkies and the sebrights, and I just had a bunch of those hatch today. They sure are cute little fluff-balls.

Wow thats a heap er mouthful! I sure hope ya have some chicks at the next POOPS

Which is why even thought I think they're gorgeous and they make me question my resolve a little, after everything I've read, I can't justify getting any.

As you drill the auger will come down in an arc making the auger go crooked and hang up. Stand off to one side and watch it, when it starts going crooked stop and pull the tractor forward just a tad bit till it straightens up.

Forgot to add. make darn sure you do a call okie so they can flag lines running across the property as they are not always marked in the fenceline. I have an unmarked wellhead line coming across the front of our place. it's only a two inch line but it carries 900 pounds of pressure. would be rough to hit it so I don't rely on memory as to where it's at.

Les...thank you so much for the site for downloading the book to my bator. I'm going to go tomorrow and start with base one that you told me to do with the temperature on the hatcher. Start there cause there's nothing in there. I have the hatcher about full so not much I can do there. That's why I put 3 different thermometers in to check it...didn't want to lose those eggs..especially the silkies and showgirls. I thought about the out side temperature fluctuating causing the inside temp problem but I thought surely being a sportsman that it would compensate for it. The phome batore never have this problem. I have my sportsman in a metal barn at my folks place across the pasture...doors are closed...not heated but heck do I have to keep the dang thing in the house?

Also, can the thermostat be replaced with a digital one or is it best to keep what is already in it.
