Oh, Cammie, you are officially bitten with the hatching bug

But seriously, if they are true Ameraucanas, I would wait and sell the extras at a Poultry Show, not just an auction where there might just be a bunch of "farmers" there (no offence of course)

Oh I forgot about shows! Ya, you're right, I would definitely take them to shows. I meant the Orpingtons, I would sell my extras of those. I may be having to downsize what little I have, things haven't improved around here...

Oh no, Cammie what is it
It sounds like more than chicken-related problems, but if that was it, I can meet up with you at a show and babysit some of your birds until you get what ever it is worked out!

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and to the idea of keeping chickens. I live in Tulsa and we are allowed to have up to 6 adults though they frown on roosters. I'm wanting to get between 4 and 6 laying hens, preferably colored egg layers. Right now I'm out of work and I promised my husband I wouldn't seriously pursue this until we are both working and can afford to build a coop with attached run and be able to afford the feed/bedding/whathaveyou.

I'm a total noob at poultry though I did grow up around dogs, cats, cows, and horses. At this point I'm voraciously reading everything I can on chickens, especially suburban chickens, and trying to plan a coop I want to build.

I'm also trying to figure out where to get my chickens. Depending on the time frame I might need pullets if I want to see eggs this year.

Any and all advice is welcome.

Thanks Okie. I'm doing alright now, just worn out. I had to move today, unplanned. The chickens are still where they were, hopefully I can get them moved soon. I'm actually just next door to where I was, seems pointless but it was necessary.

Grace, thank you for the offer. I may have to take you up on it, hopefully not.

I want to go to the Pryor show! I would like to show by Brahmas, Polish, and Silkie. I need to call and get info. So Okie and Buckguy, if you guys end up wanting to ride with me you're welcome to! Grace, you could meet me and ride with me from Chickasha. I drive a little four door car, just warning you guys ahead of time. *ha*

Krysstyllanthrox - Glad to see another Okie on here

Just so you know, on here we talk about Poultry Shows a lot - those and auctions are two good places to buy birds. We also have two hatcheries here in OK, one is called Superior Farms, but I forgot the other one's name.

Cammie - Uhuo, it doesn't seem that your family (sister) problems are going too well

I'll have to talk to Dad about Pryor, 'cause I honestly hadn't really thought about going until now... but it does seem like a good idea:D

Kryssty: Glad to have you on board. I will add you to our Okie list. I only have a minute now but I will try and answer your questions when I get a chance to get back on here.

Country: I hope things get better. As for the Pryor Show I won't be able to make that one so you girls just go and have fun.
Monty

The people here use their land line alot more, so I can't get on the internet quite as much. Darn dial-up *ha* Yay, girl poultry party in Pryor!
lol.png
Sorry you can't go Monty, that's a bummer.

Hey, my two newest additions do not go in their roost at night. The first two nights they were on the ground, and last night on top of it. Do I just need to keep picking them up and putting them in it?
