I had a good day, got to spend a good solid hour with my daughter on the couch watching our favorite show, Smallville. Im a huge superman fan, he's the man! Plus I did get in 51 silkie eggs and im expecting 2 orders of bbs orps tommarow with a few bonus nekkid necks in there. Put a 2nd brooder light on the chicks out in the shop to make sure they stay nice an toasty and incase one blows they have a backup. Wow its amazing how fast 72 chicks go through 50lbs of chick starter. They are already making a big dent in the bag. Good thing I can get 50#s for a little over 8$ here. May of found some me some meat rabbits also, gotta wait for the gal to respond but if she is breeding meat rabbits now im sure I can get a few from her after she has a few litters.

The pens I have built for Grace for most of her birds are 3' wide X 3' Tall X 8' long. The last two feet of the pen is the house and the front 6 feet is the run. A lot more space than they need but it is easy to build with standard lumber/wire. The last two are like the photos in this thread with the house on top and a smaller run on the bottom. These are about 4' deep X 30" Wide and 5' Tall with the bottom two feet being the run. I think all of the replacement pens will use this design. Grace can send you pics if you would like,

those special times with the kids are so important!

yep, if my chicks were any example of how fast they go through feed, can't imagine 72 ! We haven't tried rabbits, as a kid my step brother had them, and they are good and tasty... if you can get past those gorgeous eyes!

Back at the ER with Gerald again. Same symptoms as before ...pain behind right eye, tingling on left side. Anyway, they gave the pain med's & sent us home again after Gerald refused to have a spinal tap. The ER doc said if he gets a fever that he needs to come back in. Well, we're back again, because he developed a fever. He's going to have that procedure done to see if he has meningitis. Poor thing still has a bad headache but is at least on pain med's. I'll let ya'll know when we get the results back ... I guess in an hour or so.

I filled my freezer with the 7-9 lb roasters when they brought them to OKC in October. They had a large order cancel recently so they are going to make one more round of selling the 7-9 lb roasters in OKC, Stillwater and Tulsa. The price this time is $7 per processed chicken. NaNa was correct when she told us awhile back that the reason the roasters got so big is because they were trying to get their USDA license and the chickens got larger than they will normally process them in the future, while they were waiting on their USDA license.

Delivery in OKC will be on Monday the 16th and on Tuesday the 17th for Stillwater and Tulsa. Here is the email I received this afternoon regarding the ordering process:

Folks,

We've added a run for Stillwater and Tulsa due to popular demand. Tulsa pickup will be from 2-3 pm on Tuesday, November 17th, and Stillwater will be the same day (Tuesday) from 5-6 pm. We're still nailing down locations, so more information to come.

To order, go to http://darp.mybisi.com/

*** Please make sure you select the item based on where you plan to pickup your birds! **** You'll see there are three products, one for each location. Click on the location you'd like to use.

OKC folks, I'm going to close your orders at midnight Sunday. If you have friends/family in Tulsa or Stillwater that would like the opportunity to purchase these delicious birds, please forward this e-mail to them.

Thanks again for your support

My mom used to make us touch our chin to our chest when she was worried that someone might have menengitis. I don't know how accurate a test that is, but it made her feel better. Fortunately, none of us ever had it - but it is serious stuff that you don't want to fool around with.

Carla, I sure hope Gerald gets to feeling better. I will be praying for him. Please let us know how he is doing. Hopefully they can get it figured out this time.

I don't blame him for not wanting a spinal tap. I almost passed out four or five times when I had mine done.

I think I hated having tubes run up my nose and into my stomach as the worst medical procedure I have ever had done.
I am sure there are worse things though.

When I watch medical shows on TV and they are doing spinal taps and making it look like they are taking your temperature cracks me up. Usually they show one person doing it. There must have been ten people in the room when they did mine.
