P&B- Thank you for the info. I have looked up the laws and I did do all of the online testing for the safety class, but with school and work, I never had time to attend the in class portion of the safety class. Then my cousin and uncle told me that I really did not need one anyway since I am hunting in my backyard. Everything I saw on the legal end was about getting a license.

Cammie- I may have a pic of her after the fact and she was dry. I have a pic of her looking a little unhappy.

Cammie, the hatching eggs I bought are black copper marans, blue marans, white marans and BLR wyandottes! I actually already have some of all these & some are even laying already but I need some more and unrelated bloodlines to strengthen the flocks. I may go to bed early tonight ... with some Nyquil probably. I either caught a cold from my granddaughter or from one of the visits to the hospital. Anyway, I'm drinking lots of hot tea with honey from Maribeth! I'll be over this in no time ... so I can go to a poultry auction this weekend???? Hopefully I can go to a high school football playoff Friday night.

luv2bmemaw2, do you teach at Sequoyah Claremore? That's who the Tuttle Tigers football team is playing next. I sure hope I'm feeling better to see that game! Go Tigers!!!!

Yes Carla I do teach at Sequoyah. My DH is leaving at 3:30 to come to the game with some friends. I would love to go but I've been really sick so I don't think it is wise to go.

I'm sure it will be a good game. I think our boys are out for revenge...a couple of years ago Tuttle beat them out of state playoffs. LOL Hope you're feeling better to get to go.

I felt bad for spraying her though. I know that had to be a shock to her. and btw I believe that you have went this far with school that you will prolly finish. I am tired of school too, but I am still truckin on. However, if after the spring semester I do not make candicacy I guess I will be done.

Thank you Carah...I've been pretty sick. Been going to specialist and couldn't convince them that "I am sick". The doctor couldn't see past the fact that there was more going on than just an overweight lady that he is sure my cough is from acid reflux. I kept telling him that I was sure it was more than that but all he did was harp on my weight. I certainly didn't need him to tell me about my weight...I have to look at it every day in the mirror. It was like some great revelation to him that he needed to tell me about it....it certainly wasn't news to me.

Anyway, I've had this "cough" for ever and finally 10 days after seeing the doctor he finally said that there was a secondary throat infection going on. DUGH!!!

I'd been trying to tell him but he was positive it was "just acid reflux". So, now I've been off work all week...finally getting better now that he put me on 4 meds.

Persons residing in another state who own land in Oklahoma but do not live on that land are considered nonresidents and are not exempt.
As Monty said, there is a hunting license and a ???? license for deer and you have to have both unless you are exempt

Call the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and be sure to write down the person's name you talk to.

For those of you who have had problems with raccoons, my research on hunting licenses for Engie did turn up some good information regarding the depopulation of raccoons that are killing your poultry. You are exempt from obtaining a fur-bearing license when you depopulate the raccoon.

The part that confuses me however is that once you have killed the racoon you found destroying your poultry, you can't remove the fur or carcass from the property

I guess you have to bury it on your property unless you have a fur license.

Landowners or Lessees

Landowners or lessees who kill bobcats, raccoons, gray/red foxes or river otters actually found destroying livestock or poultry are exempt from the purchase of the fur license.

No landowner or lessee who takes these species under the depredation exemption may remove any part of the fur or unskinned carcass from the premises where taken.

Landowners or lessees taking furbearers in open season with intent to sell must possess a fur license. This license is not required for those who run or chase furbearers with dogs but do not take.

When we lived in town it was a kind of secluded area but the animal control officer told us that as long as nobody complained he would look the other way as far as us having birds.

Well one day I look out the window and they are moving a trailer house in right next to the coop. We tried to find a spot to put the birds expecting complaints from the new neighbor but they didn't come. He was raised on a farm and liked nothing better then drinking his morning coffee listening to the roosters crow.

In fact if the birds slept late he would go over and gently knock on the side of the coop to get them up.
