I didn't think about this when you first asked, probably bcs I was half asleep. Anyways, if you go to an Asian market and look in their freezer section they have soy ice cream and soy ice cream bars of all kinds. This may sound gross, but it is actually really good. There are some that have a small green lentil pea like in one variety, I know peas in Ice Cream, yes they are good. But anyways they have many different kinds. In Norman I don't know where your closest Asian market is located, I can ask my my mom and see if she knows, since she lives right outside of Norman.

If you had your chickens before that law went into effect, then you should be exempt to that law by the grandfather clause.

I raise meat rabbits and like them. I am still working on finding a way to tenderize the leg quarters so they aren't so tough (maybe soak them in Coca Cola for a few hours?) but we really enjoy the tenderloin from the rabbit.

I've managed to downsize to Cuckoo Marans, Black Marans (who are also throwing Birchen pattern Marans), Langshans and Delawares that all are good quality from eBay eggs, after getting carried away early on and trying to keep up with too many breeds. Have 5 RLW Cornish from Ideal that only barely resemble the breed, but do have the wide breast, so will use them only with a couple of Delawares to see what happens in the meat category. My long term, goof off project, you might say. Have had poultry off and on most of my life.

Maybe some Silkies eventually. Not sure yet.

Also have some Calico Turkeys (which are all going in the freezer for being nasty to the other birds), and Beltsville Whites, who look like they're pretty decent, disposition wise and size wise. One person doesn't need something big enough to be chewing on for two weeks after the original feast. Also have 2 BBW's left to butcher...and parted out....weigh close to 50 pounds. That's on the schedule for Sunday. Have my rack built and block & tackle in place....rather like butchering a hog, those big buggers.....have done it several times before and it just takes time if you have the right setup.

A couple of months ago, I traded some pullets to be hatched in the early spring for a trio of NZ White rabbits from one of my neighbors. They are actually better quality than most "backyard" bunnies. Would still like to find a nice trio of Californians for crossing for faster growth. Back in the '70's, in another life and another state (ND), I raised fryers for a processor (who went belly up and left all his producers holding the bag as he slid off into the sunset one night) and had 250 does when the end came with no warning. But, always seem to go back to rabbits whenever I can. Like both the animal and the meat; just make sure never to name anything that's going in the pot, and get along fine with the processing.

Have a really good recipe for rabbit sausage that you might like to use for those legs.

Will see if I can find it in my still unpacked totes of stuff.

That's my critters, except for Katie (GP X Border Collie), and Pest (rescue....maybe Black Lab/Doberman) Both good predator watchers. I'm 72, widowed twice, three grown kids, farm & ranch background, miss my horses, mess with computers in my spare time....just built a new one from scratch.

It is 40 with a wind chill of 33!!! Brisk!!!

faeries I love my little white silkie!!!! I only have one...It was the only one left in the Atwoods bin. I know it's a roo, cause I really want a hen....I will have to take recent pictures....he is very sweet and stands on my boot when I clean. You are so lucky to have eggs!! I can't believe carla's eggs went for a buck a dozen that weekend at Blanchard and I had NO NUMBER!!!!!

I didn't want to hatch again this late...but for Carla's eggs...would have made an exception! Bid one lady up to like 15.00 for a dozen at Cement once...just cause I wanted the darn things. Told myself I would cut off at 12.00...then it got personal....I let her have them at 15.00. Can't wait till spring!!! Maybe we will be in Chick by then

Poor hens... I am watching them get blown around the yard...they hate the wind. I was cracking up at the "wet hen" experience. I just went through that yesterday with my biggest EE pullet... She is HUGE compared to the others....I nabbed her and set her on my lap to clip her wings. She bowed up at me and pecked at me a couple times. I grabbed her by the neck and told her to knock it off and started petting her. She calmed down and let me clip her wings. I put her back on the ground, and she did that puff up all her feathers thing that broodies do...and stood at my feet and growled and growled....I reached down and grabbed her again.....she didn't expect that!! HAHAHA!! After that, I set her down and she just ran around puffed up and growling for awhile....she has 'TUDE!!! And she is a big girl.

I put my big white hen in that cage last night and she is miffed as well....

I am making pecan praline yams for Mike's work banquet. I ahet going becasue of Mike's boss. I had a dream monday night that he said something evil and I told him off.... He is just the evilest guy. Have never met anyone like him. You how some people can be evil and you can say well it's because of this...or that... this guy just lives to be wicked to people. He loves it when he can start something. He's like Mr. Horns....Just likes to pit people against each other and heaven help you if he finds a weak spot.....!! He just hammers on it.....Mike cut a vein in his bicep a couple years ago stripping a wire. Had a huge hematoma under the skin because he didn't wanna go to the ER cause he didn't wanna hear this guys crap. So he's in getting triaged and I go get my purse. His boss starts in about how Mike's lazy and just trying to get out of work....The human resources director for the city had to pull me off of him....If the HR guy hadn't been there Mik'e boss woulda been in the treatment room next to Mike. And he was just laughing the whole time. During that storm Mike worked 242 hours in 2 weeks.... we have the best guys and he treats them like dirt. Keeps telling them "My old guys in Denton County..." I'm like if it was so great go the heck back there.... In my dream I was asking him why he wasn't still there...Maybe we should investigate THAT. Hmph.

You can mess with me....don't ever mess with my Mikey...I will hurt you.

Oh well so much for that rant!!! LOL......

The next week is gonna be crazy...Take vitamins..eat honey..... LOL....

It's my dream to hunt wild turkey for Thanksgiving..I miss the stupid class every year... to get my permit. They only have one class...This year my mom was going through all that drama...I'm getting too old to go out and freeze for a stupid bird I can get at Walmart!!! LOL....
