Good Morning All!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!! We are all well and good here, my wife has to work today but the kids and I are going to my moms for dinner, I am fixing a Ham in the crockpot and some Ham dressing to take to moms. Les concrats an the grandbaby and we will be praying for you and the baby. Al it is wonderful to have you back, I sure missed you after i got back online after Dakota got out of the hosp. they carry wheat germ oil at Atwoods! Monty I got a deer give to me yesterday, all I had to do was pick it up and take it to my buddy, he is skinning it and deboning it and then next weekend we are making summer sausage from it and a hog we are butchering. Donna sounds like you had a fun time, I miss going to the mountains, have not been there in a while, need to go again. Well yall don't eat too much, I gotta go and get started on the dressing, Lynn

Ok everybody lets start to wet our whistles of what we are having today as far as treats. Laura & Alyssa did all the baking while I got my hand slapped away about 4000 times, I am doing the turkey, stuffing, and all the fixins. Here are some of the things they made.

Cherry pie

Homemade chocolate Truffles

Some kind of choco-peanut butter something or nother.

No Sooner don't go!!!
I need to figure something out on green beans!! There is going to be 16 people

a few more than I hope for...er.....counted on. That means double the meds!! I said I would do the green beans, plus it will keep me at the house longer.

So now what to do with them. I usally put them in the pan with a chicken bullion cube, some diced onion and a bit of bacon and cook the down for an hour or so.
Does anyone have any last minute ideas? I don't do the green been casserole thing, it goes back to the texture thing. Plus the kids don't eat it, and we will have lots of them today.....

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING: By Lauren

T’was the night of Thanksgiving,
But I just couldn’t sleep.
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned,
The dark meat and white.
But I fought the temptation,
With all of my might.
Tossing and turning,
with anticipation.
The thought of a snack
became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey,
And buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
Beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling,
So plump and so round.
‘til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding,
And a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell
As I soared past the trees
Happy eating to all,
Pass the cranberries, please!!
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious,
May your pies take the prize
And May your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs!

I was just boogeying around the kitchen listening to Elton John's "Step Into Christmas"...I'm cutting up rutabegas..

Making my dressing etc....and it was suddenly real that some folks don't have food at all. Thank God for blessing us all with food...roofs over our head....hot showers....soap...stuff we take for granted every day.....

As for green beans - are you starting with fresh, frozen or canned? If starting with fresh or frozen, place them in a dish that will go inside the microwave and place 1 inch pieces of raw bacon throughout the green beans and on top. Microwave until the bacon is cooked - at least 10 minutes.
