Mornin everyone looks like everyone had a great time at Blanchard that is going to be a spring trip for us I am determined to make it down there!!!

Sooner have you changed your mind about showing at Shawnee yet ????? Just think how much fun it would be!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day, looks like it is going to be a rainy one here today!! Quenston

Morning everyone,

What a morning, looks dreary outside and windy.. so I guess we wont burn today

Our Turkey hen that was a play toy yesterday to our 5 month old GP Jackson is doing really well today, thank goodness. I am glad that the loss of her beautiful feathers arent a deterant to the TOMS checking her out as they were strutting their stuff to her this morning.. LOL. Speaking of Toms anyone have a Standard Bronze Tom they would like to rehome.... We have more hens than we do of Toms for the breed.... Which makes a correction to what I stated the other day with having 3 TOMS... We have 2 Toms and 1 Hen of the Narragansett and 2 Hens of the Standard Bronze due to a loss we had with two Bronze when they were babies... ..

Man maybe just ignore me... cause I also stated just the other day no more buying of animals till New Years... Right... LOL....

I had a good time and I learned a lot.

There were a total of 5 Flemish breeders there, including one from Missouri and one from Texas. All 4 of the other breeders have barns full of pedigree Flemish, so I don't feel badly that I took 1st place in one class where my rabbit was the only one of that age and color and 2nd place where my rabbit was only 1 of 2 of that age and color.

My main goal at this point is to learn. I did send my cranky fawn Flemish doe home with a breeder, so he can see if she will breed. She did well regarding her conformation, so I am hopeful to get some juniors from her in time for the March show. The breeder that took her home won best of class and opposite best with two of his Flemish, so I am optimistic.

Yes a good time as usual we comandeered the back table and camped out for the duration, Laughing and cutting up is the norm with our group of lovable crazies. Gerald asked me if I wanted to ride shotgun with him on the steel soldier convoy but alas that is the Shawnee weekend and after all I do have my Loyalties LOL, it does sound like fun. Yes I tried to sneak out of the auction house with a Foo-Foo cage for Laura and I got caught and took quite a ribbing from the peanut gallery LOL. I think I enjoy sitting with my Peeps more than watching the sale items, this spring should prove to be a malay at the autions.

I am not familiar with the Loy Lake show, but I think I understood you to indicate in an earlier post that you are showing somewhere this coming weekend, on the 5th. If that is the date, I won't be able to make it

Good luck to you, however. What variety of rabbits do you show?

I had a great deal of fun at Blanchard for having arrived so late. Didn't get to chit chat so much mostly because I couldn't hear anyone at the end of the table (half deef after all, so I mostly watched people's lips move), but picked a lot of good turkey and auction pointers from Carla and got a chance to sit and learn at the feet of The Master (aka Michael D.) when he wasn't buying or selling something.

Which wasn't often.

One great pointer... he watches people closely at the beginning of the auction to see what they are bidding on and how high they are going on them. Then when that critter is in one of the choice cages with other critters and he doesn't particularly want one of those, he bows out of the bidding and lets the other buyer get their foofoo bird or whatever they were after for a ridiculous amount of money, then jumps in second time around and buys the rest for a song. Made me think of good poker players reading other players "tells". Something that hadn't even occurred to me. Next auction I'm just going to shadow Mike and watch him more closely. I'll bet he has lots of tricks like that.

Think I convinced a guy to take one of the free puppies by the entrance door. I was lamenting how much I wanted one (they were half Akbash, something I would love to have mixed with my dogs) and talking up all their qualities and how I haven't had a single predator problem since I got my LGDs, but I already have 4 so the boss nixed the idea. Well, she said it was up to me, but when she says that, it might as well be an emphatic "NO!" You pick things like that up after being married for 25 years.

Oh and I walked away with three very nice Bourbon Reds for $35 (two of them Carla's). I probably could have gotten the third one for maybe $5 cheaper if I would have bid smarter, but I wanted him pretty bad and still feel like it was a good price.

All in all a very fine time at Blanchard auction, which is turning into THE place to be for BYC Okies and other chicken lovers.

they are posted on craigslist an farmanimals forsale @yahoo.com i also sent you the info.in a pm

Hello Okies! I've been trying to keep up but haven't posted. I'm still recuperating from a killer head cold in between working over the holidays, and this is my last day to rest before work kicks in Big Time this week. I hope everyone had a great Thanskgiving and that no one exploded from over-indulging.

I'm glad everyone had a good time at the auction - it sure sounds like it was fun.

P&B - I had to laugh when I saw that you got wheaten eggs from Carla - I'm glad you got them. You hatching junkies are a scream...someday maybe I'll succumb to that particular disease - I look forward to it!

Hi Rebecca! The Shawnee show is December 12-13 - I'll put your name on the list for luck and cross my fingers that you can be there! From what I've heard mentioned on the board, I think most Okies who aren't showing birds are planning to attend on Saturday the 12th. It will be known as the Great Winter Okie Chicken Meet - the GWOCM! (Hmmm...somehow I don't think that name will catch on...)

It's cold and gray and raining here....time to take some more medicine and lay on the sofa under my yellow & green quilt (thanks Doodle/Wayne!).
