I think I would just go ahead and dub him, if nothing else it will keep it from happening again.

I have thought about that before the frost bite he had huge beautiful comb and wattles but now I guess that is gone! Will it grow back?

Nope, once it's gone it's gone for good. Since he is going to have to suffer through the pain of the bit portions falling off and healing, plus having to deal with others pecking at it, you might as well dub it. At least that way he'll only have to suffer through the healing process once and you won't have to worry about his comb & frostbite again. For a non game rooster I would use a show dub, leave about 1/8th to 3/16ths of an inch of the comb, take the wattles & lobes off complete.

Hey Al...I finally got a break from the grandkids. Down to 2 of them tonight. I've loved it but I'm sure ready to have some time to myself. I haven't been able to do more than lurk on here...mostly late at night when everything is done for the babies.

Anyway, can't wait to see everyone at Shawnee. This will be our first show and I'm anxious to see how it works.

Hi Donna! I'll be there Saturday morning also. Maria wanted to go but that is her day out with the girls & they have been planning a trip to the ballet for months. I had to put a heat lamp out in my grow out pen for all the bantams that hatched with the cochins you got from me, how are they doing?? Hanging in there in this cold I hope.

Got the month olds moved into wire rabbit cages in the mudroom... adjusted the light so it's farther up, and all that. The wire cages should be easier to clean. The trays are filled with hay/straw/wood pellet mix to absorb the droppings... and keep the smell out of my living room. Needed to get on the ball with that since there's a slight possibility that the eggs Monty is incubating for me might hatch. Might. There's a small hope candle flickering...

but I'm not holding my breath. However, just in case, I wanted to make sure the small brooder in the living room is empty and waiting

They're doing great. We've moved them to another pen to make room for the new babies....so we put a light in also due since it has gotten so cold. They're really growing. I've got silkies and showgirls hatching right and left now.

Allen : You have to devise a way for all of us to recognize you, most have never met you. We as a group pride ourselfs on not leaving anybody out.

Look forward seeing you too Al. I feel like part of my family is missing since POOPS. I'm trying to make a list of bare necessities for Shawnee but I think the wants may out do the needs. LOL I may have to say Merry Christmas to me..

Yeah me too, are you looking for anything in particular at Shawnee ??.

If anyone is going to be bringing any hatching eggs to Shawnee would you post it and the kind. I want to practice through the winter so come spring I won't be so stupid when I hatch a ton of them. Also, if anyone is going to bring birds to get rid of post those also so we can speak for them too. I need more birds like a hole in the head.

I got 2 roos and 5 hens from a guy the other night. They had belonged to his soon to be ex-wife and he didn't know what they were. I don't know what 2 of them are. As soon as I figure out how to post the pics I hope someone can help me identify.
