Our clay soil here holds water very well but it also does not give it up easily. A normal summer will see cracks close to three feet deep and an inch or so wide but if you dig post holes often times less then 6in down the clay coming out of the hole will be wet enough to make a ball out of.

Keeping it worked up is the only way to keep it pliable and more of a loam. I actually watched a rain storm dump a lot of water fast and it ran under the tilled ground and came up at the East end of the garden. It was following the plow pan and it looked really cool, like an underground river.

I've liked both of them for a long time. They have been around about the same amount of time, developed their very similar plans simultaneously, Ramsey developing a local Nashville radio program and Hunt a newsletter called The Cheapskate Monthly. Ramsey is much more intense than Hunt. He tends to appeal more to men, Hunt more to women, but I use both their plans. Mary's Freedom Account is about the best financial tool I have yet encountered.

Another good one written in a similar vein is All Your Worth by Elizabeth Warren. It is even less intense than Hunts.

We have all three authors at the Lawton library. Hunt's best book by far is Debt Proof Living. Details her plan in a much better manner than DPYM.

Animal Vegetable Miracle is my favorite book ever. Read it one day, the next I was shopping for a farm.

Hey Monty,
I was wondering,,,,,Since my DW served the turky this year on a hubcap instead of a platter, does that make us Rednecks? Also her recipe said to "close the hood and cook for two hours at 3500 RPM.

I think that is cooking the turkey too fast. Slow down to about 2500 RPM and it will soak up more fumes.
As for the Redneck question, I am not sure I am qualified to answer it. Was it a new hubcap or one she found in the ditch while picking up cans?

I have tested positive for Redneck tendencies however they believe it may be a recessive gene that is causing it and since we are in a recession that I should be monitored.

I personally can not say you are rednecks but since you live in Southeastern Oklahoma it would be easy to stereotype.
Hope this helps answer your question.

I need a good laugh after the day I've had with one of my boys at school. Another hour with him and I would be over the edge.

I used to plant buckwheat and then till it under. It is a great green manure crop.

I still do this with annual rye in my garden.

eta: But this year the chickens have been eating the rye grass...

I think if you serve the turkey on the same hubcap that was knocked off your truck into the ditch when you hit the turkey while driving down the road, then it counts as true redneck...
