Hello everyone.
Well I went to Shawnee today and helped set up tables and cages. I was there about five hours and man it was a lot of work.I talked to a lot of folks about stuff trying to learn all I can.
There are gonna try and have about 150 cages in the sale room. We had about 100 in place when I left.
They are expecting between 1200-1500 pouiltry birds there. That't counting the pigeon show which is on the other end of the same building.

Everything had to be done today because there will be folks bringing in birds all day tomorrow and setting up.

The Expo center is about four miles south of I-40 177 highway. It is on the left side of the road.
The show building is the second one not the first one, You will have to enter the building from the East side. That is where the biggest parking lot is. The building that has the writing onit about the Shawnee Expo is not the place it is the next one.

Q, I did a little checking today. It will be about nine miles from your motel to the show. The expo is located just under four miles from
!-40. Are you getting off at the Wellston exit and coming down 177?
(Coming from the East) IHOP is on the access road south of I-40. You can't get on the access road from Harrison. You have to go West on I-40 to the Kickapoo exit, cross over I-40 and go back East on the access road.
If you are coming from the West just exit off of at Kickapoo and go straight when you come to the light, (Please stop if it is red)
I don't think you can see IHOP until it is too late to turn.
I77 highway ( Where the show is) is about four miles West of Kickapoo off of I-40.

The sponsors said they are always needing some help. not just with setting up but clerical stuff and other things.
They will probably need help Saturday with some things if someone wants to volunteer.

I can't remember the group, is it the Oklahoma Poultry Federation? Help me?

They said next year, when the Nationals will be at Shawnee that there will be 15000 birds there. This years show is on one end of one building. For next years show they will have to use all of the expo buildings.

One thing I have been meaning to tell people and I keep forgettting is to remember to take a notebook and pen so you can write down information. Even some of the birds that are in the show barn may be for sale. Plus you will see names of breeders on cages that you may want to contact later.

At least you had something to brighten up your week! What's hatching?

So far out of a dozen eggs that Carla said probably wouldn't hatch due to age of the eggs we have three NNs and two feather necked.....Frizzles.
One of the frizzles is coal black right down to the toenails.

Time to move the brooder back into the bedroom!

Jeannie, I won't be staying the entire day. I plan to head out about 2pm. I think Q & Al are staying over night but not sure. As for everyone else I will let them answer!

Monty, that is great information. I figure I will make IHop & just follow you to the show
