Stimpster : I am thinking about taking my DD to a BB King concert in Whichita falls in Jan, Let her really get to know the masters. I have been listening to Sony boy Williamson tonight. I used to go and see listen to him in Chicago in the ole Basement Blues clubs in the early 70's.

Here is a pic of one of the Frizzle NNs that hatched from Carla's eggs. A total of 5 hatched out of the dozen but 1 had some problems and had to be culled.

The eggs were about 10 days old when set and Carla told me not to expect a hatch because of this. Well I ran the bator 1 deg cool all through incubation hoping that would slow the growth some to make for a stronger chick if they devoloped. Musta worked cause this one was all I could catch in the brooder to get pics.

After reading your posts, I remembered something I'd read about a virus, Newcastle Disease Virus, or NDV. NDV affects the respiratory, nervous, and digestive systems. Symptoms are variable depending on the strain of virus, species of bird, concurrent disease and preexisting immunity. The incubation period for the disease ranges from 2 to 15 days.

An infected bird may exhibit the following signs:
Respiratory: sneezing, gasping for air, nasal discharge, coughing
Digestive: greenish, watery diarrhea
Nervousness, depression, muscular tremors, drooping wings, twisting of head and neck, circling, complete paralysis
Partial to complete drop in egg production and thin-shelled eggs
Swelling of the tissues around the eyes and in the neck
Sudden death

If your bird had NDV, then there is nothing you could have done to prevent its death.

Youngest daughter got rid of that darn Kiko billy goat. Now she wants some pygmies to keep her two fainter cross does company. I hope she doesn't get in too big of a hurry to get another billy. Nasty smelly things! That last billy loved to come up to you and nibble on your fingers... all the while peeing all over your knees!

I'll let you know if I run across any fainters. Do you want does, billies or wethers?

Kids today need to be exposed to something besides the top 40. Explain to her that knowing something about the blues, and soul and r&b will help make more sense from what she's hearing today. Some Brooke Benton and Sam Cooke will go a long ways to explaining Dr. Dre. Good on ya Al. Now, she can take you to see Dropkick Murphys so you can hear "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ya".
