Dude, My kids dont go to Elgin schools, ha ha... So I should keep my taxes that go to the schools, but then again I would have to jump onto my SoapBox regarding all that.

tee hee. I told Jason we have to stop cleaning...

Krazy Kitty:We dont qualify for the farm tax exempt because Jason is still active duty military and his residence is still California... if he chooses to become a Oklahoma Resident we can qualify for the perks of such but at this time it is better for us for him to remain California(even though we will not return there to live voluntarily) and myself Colorado.

my chickens are better garbage disposals than a dog. Yes, dog kibble or dry cat food will hold them over and in fact, dry cat food is sometimes recommended to add to their feed to increase the protein level. Now is also a good time to clean out the freezer of any freezer burned food and the pantry of outdated canned goods and let them pick on that. You can be creative in feeding them, just avoid giving them too much salt. They can eat anything except coffee grounds, citrus rinds and raw potatoes (I cook my potato peelings and sprinkle them liberally with red pepper flakes to help the hens generate some heat internally, during the cold weather) DH came across several pkgs of old raman noodles this past week when he was rearranging my kitchen, some of which had been attacked by moths - I boiled some water, dropped in all the noodles, saved the seasoning packages for me to use later, and fed the cooked raman to the chickens. There were some cracked eggs when I gathered them and I added those to the hot noodles and stirred - protein and carbs in one dish - the chickens loved it.

I bet that by the end of the day the chickens will have "rearranged" their social order and one will have elected itself as the leader.

ok guys wish me happy tossing

thanks clucks- as hubby said, we tried everything on him, the gentle approach to the kick in the face approach- but when he shredded pj's back, and caused all sorts of mayhem after 3 days of behaving himself, well....

and then my MIL called to ask if he would get a reprieve this morning....

i just told her no- and felt bad, but the hens seem more relaxed except wanting out- will the head hen be the guardian now?

Well, went to sleep around 8pm last night, woke up at 7 am this morning... good thing I woke up, had to take my kid to get her allergy shots!

Just took some hot mash out to the chickens in the coop... they love that stuff

Yes, I received a certificate from the Department of Agriculture with my NPIP certified tester number - it arrived in July or August so you need to contact them and see if yours got lost in the mail.

Does it count as tossing if I am bring the box into the house instead of doing the tossing outside? Tee hee...
BTW: Someone want a Chinese Goose? The Chinese Goose we got a few months ago, we may need to re home her... She wont stop going after Jason and he is starting to really not like her... She does fine with myself and our two kids and loves to follow me around like a lil child, but it wont make for a happy home if she doesnt let Jason near me or the kids if we happen to be outside and she is around. I feel so bad for her, she was hand raised with no other geese (from what I understand) and although she does seem to be fairing well with our geese she still prefers human contact than anything... Any ideas? without "eating her"... ( I couldnt do it)

The only name I can recall offhand is Chad - he was about the same age as my oldest daughter. She's 28... (GARSH I'm getting old!)

That is my cousin. One of my uncle's sons. You met one of the good ones. Chad is a sweety, he is married with a child of his own now.

They both had a crush on him at one time. Now they are just friends - but they don't get to see much of each other. Youngest daughter did mention that he had a little one now.

So - I just put on a big pot of beef stew. Does that mean that if I put the potato and carrot peelings in a pot with a bit of water, and the celery, that my girls can eat it? They don't eat potato peelings very well, but I throw them out there anyway. They scratch them in with the hay bedding and poop, and it will be composted come spring.

Hiya Maribeth!

-Stimp-

I've had about a pot of coffee today. Starting at about 830 after I found Autumn, and I'm still going!
Full Caff. Is that bad?
