Good Morning and MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone.

Pa-Pa and TJ (don't know which one is worse) were
up and ready to "get 'er done" at 5:30 !!!!!!!!!
Am soooooo glad we set our doins at Bill's
daughter's up a little earlier. At that, we left
at 6:00 and had a time getting 9 miles north.
His younger daughter left when we did. Her
hubby has a big jeep, studded tires, the whole
works. They followed us to make sure we made
it and honked and went on to Claremore. She
called at 9:10 and they had just walked in. Took
them over 3 hours to drive 62 miles. Looks like
we ended up with 5-6 inches of snow, with 3/4"
of ice under it.

Now to try to kick a path to the kitchen and get
the turkey in.

Have a safe and warm day !

I had the strangest experience last night. I was sitting here at my desk, when I could swear that I heard sleighbells and little tiny hoofs on my roof. I thought "there's no way !", but I got up to investigate anyway. I walked into the living room and looked around but nothing seemed out of place so I headed back to my office.

As I past the bathroom, I ran into old Saint Nick himself. I said "Santa, I didn't think you really existed. Did you bring me a gift?" He laughed right in my face and said "I just stopped here to use your bathroom and to ask directions to Beth's house." I told him that Beth lived in Tulsa but I don't know exactly where. He looked down and said "you're no help at all." Then, with a wink and a nod, he put his finger aside his nose and quick as a flash he was gone.

I spent the rest of the night cleaning carpets. Apparently Santa didn't wipe the reindeer poop from his boots before he came in. I hate Santa.

DH is taking his tractor over to the son's house where we had Christmas last night, to scoop out his driveway so daughter-in-law's parents can get in the driveway today. That will be one very cold ride even though it is only about 5 miles away. I pulled the tags off the insulated overalls DH gave me for Christmas last year and am getting ready to go check on chickens and rabbits. There is a drift of snow across the middle of my backyard that is taller than a 55 gallon drum. I figure I just need to stomp a path through it so that I can get to the rabbit barn.

A neighbor just came by to borrow a battery charger, another neighbor is stranded in a hotel across town and may need some assistance later today to get home. DH thinks he will have to put the chains on the truck if he has to go after her. Very strange weather for Oklahoma.

Will check back in after I make the rounds - it takes me two hours to feed and water everything on a good day - so this may take awhile.

Looks like I suffered casualities in the shop last nite. One of the two brooder lamps blew and they piled up under the other, these chicks are nearly all feathered out, I figured they would be ok. Looks like alot of them are dead, didnt bother counting yet. Glad I kept my blue orps, silkies, and turkens in the house despite the constant threats from the other half.

Merry Christmas Okie's!

Glad everyone is safe & sound. We had a wonderful night with the inlaws & the other set stayed home this morning instead of driving. We had a great morning & will enjoy the rest of the day playing with our gifts & outside. All my chickens are doing fine, went out to feed & they are all staying in the coops.

Ronnie sorry for your loss! I know it stinks when that happens.

Ronnie, Sorry to hear about your losses.

P&B, You have a horrible snow drift.

I've checked today and everybody is okay at my house. I am really surprised. I was feeling so guilty last night while I was inside warm and all. I got a lot of dirty looks this morning. With all the wind blowing and variable precipitation types, I had birds with frozen feathers that I was really worried about.

I'm hoping the highway and streets don't look like my road. I have to get out to pick up my girls which is one thing I will do no matter what. This is the reason I drive an all wheel vehicle year around. You just never know. (But I'm not one of those infuriating SUV drivers that fly around on ice.)

Huh...Santa was in my living room when I came downstairs this morning. He was in my recliner eating cookies and drinking milk. I told him I was surprised to see him - usually he's gone before I awake Christmas morning. He said the Turnpike was closed and it was harder to get here than usual. When I asked him if he needed to use the facilities before he headed back to the North Pole, he wiped the crumbs out of his beard and laughed, "Ho Ho Ho!" He said he always stops by your place for that, Stimpy - that's his normal routine and last night you just caught him. He told me you have been a bad kid all your life, and although you don't deserve any gifts in the regular sense, he still stops by your house to leave you a little something in the bathroom. He mentioned that his reindeer also left you some piles of presents under the snow - he said you'd find them when it started to thaw. He seemed to think it was all quite humorous...

Merry Christmas, Stimpy!

Good morning Faerie - my chickens would probably love some hot mash. They are all inside the coop. Every once in a while some-hen looks out the pop door, but their ramp is covered with snow and I'll bet they'd sink and be stuck immediately if they tried to go outside. They have water in the coop, and I went inside and put some scratch on top of the feed tray in their hanging feeder. I think I'll boil some eggs, then mash 'em up shells and all to take out to them later.

I have a bag of dried fruit that none of us liked, so I've been taking flock raiser crumbles, hard boiled eggs, and a cup of dried fruit, and cooking it like oatmeal. Mashed all together, I haul it out in a bowl to the coop... when they see the bowl, they're down off the roost onto the bottom of the coop where the bowls are, clucking and making all sorts of noise until I dump the mash into their bowls. They are so funny when they do it too... bantam cochins dancing around the bottom of the coop! My big girls (Lucky the Black Star and the other two) just wait patiently, then dive in beak first.

Chickens are awesome
