Q - I almost did a tush-plant in that video, but managed to make a nice save.

Betsy - Thank you for the compliments! My hubby has now decided we are making Christmas cards next year. Lol

Barnswallow - Your cat looks just like my cat Gracie! Thats an adorable picture.

My chickens made it through the night thankfully. I just finished putting up a heat lamp and getting them fed and watered. I can't believe they wanted to walk around in the snow! Chicken poop is even less attractive on white snow. Lol. The Silkie is doing much better, but I'm keeping her inside until this weather is over.

My parents made it to work and are covering for everyone who called in, my sister is still stuck in Newcastle, and my hubby is fixing his mom's water well. So I'm sitting in my parents' house by myself with the puppies. Not the greatest Christmas, but its peaceful and I got my snow!

P.S. Thanks to the mods for the super title change!

I noticed that you had some pretty good balance there Cammie its a good thing!!

My chickens all made it fine and the only ones that got out today was the Favorelles and it was funny to watch becasue they would fly from the coop door to the tree where the snow had blown away!!

Thought I'd stop by and check on everyone. The roads in town are clear for the most part (so Ive been told), we dont live in town, we live on a dead end road, at the dead end, and the road is a down hill slope all the way to our driveway. We will not be going anywhere because we cant get out. The weather warmed up some here and the wind is almost at a stand still so it doesnt feel that bad outside. Chickens should be fine tonight.

I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing alright. We may be snowed in, but at least we've all got power and heat right? I would take this over that ice storm a few years ago, no doubt!

These cars got abandoned last night on the road my parents live on. The first is a Mustang. We did check to make sure no one was in it.

Oh, that looks bad!

I have to toot my own horn. My daughter, who is 16 went with her boyfriend today, he was nice enough to pick her up from my mom's, she seen an elderly couple stuck in the mud on the side of the road and made her boyfriend pull over to help them. She asked how long they had been stuck there, they said about 3 hours, they were traveling from Kansas. She asked if they need help, the reply was yes. She sat out there for an hour with her boyfriend shoveling around the tires so they could hook onto them with a chain. She told the couple that the were not leaving until the had gotten them out. I was so proud of her for helping. Her response " Mom it is too cold to leave people stuck on the side of the road." But I did warn her not to do that for everyone, no telling who you run into doing that.

Thanks for letting us know of the cancellation, Jerry. I had planned to attend - before the snow came in - and as I struggled through snow drifts in my yard today, was wondering whether it would be safe to drive out that direction.

sjarvis - That is wonderful! Sounds like you're doing a fantastic job raising her.

I got frustrated with Clark yesterday because he wanted to help everyone. But after he helped the same guy twice, once on the guy's way to a friend's and once to another friend's, he decided he was done helping goofy people. Lol

People dont think about having common sense when the weather gets like this. I have 3 kids of driving age and they all have been told you do not drive in this stuff unless you have to! No sense risking you life or someone elses just to get out of the house. My kids also carry blankets in their cars when winter hits. I have told them over and over enough that they know even if they arent wearing their coat when the step outside to take it with them, to call if they get stuck and stay with the car. And they do really good. Not one of them complains when they are told they cant drive, or we are coming to get you and your car so you dont drive home. One of my girls was very upset last night and wasnt at home, said the weather is too bad to drive. I told her to always remember I would come get her know matter what the weather if she needed but that she needed to figure out if her being upset was worth the risk.

I don't know. I'm eat plumb up with common sense and I always loved getting out in this kind of weather. My kids like to drive in snow too. To my knowledge, none of us have ever been stuck to the point that we couldn't free ourselves.
