OKes...Sup?

It is really nasty here this morning. The snow is really coming down and we have this wicked wind. I actuallyleft the hens locked up in the coop, since the snow was blowing so bad. I am sitting here nursing a hot tea.....trying to thaw out from cleaning coops......

I'm in so much trouble... the coop didn't get cleaned the weekend before the snow storm, and now it's so cold and nasty outside, and I need to buy feed and all that... so so so much trouble.

I also use straw hay as bedding, I like it alot and have never had a problem with it. The thing is when buying it you have to inspect it well don't take anybodys word for it. I jam my hand into the center pull the bale apart and pull out a handful. I smell it, look for mold or older dull coloring, and moisture. Most people have problems with it only if they get crappy hay.

I've heard alfalfa hay can be bad for creating impacted crops but it doesn't make sense to me, since alfalfa is one of my birds' favorite free range forages. Haven't had a single crop problem in the two years I have been giving them hay.

I'm also switching from straw bedding but not because of health reasons. They just keep eating the dang stuff and I can't keep enough on the floor or in their nests!

I'm ElkHunter for a reason. I could have been the Redneck Elkhunter. So here's my first attempt at the Redneck Elkhunter.!

You might be a Redneck If: You tell your children that your cull rooster is a pinata' and it's the roosters birthday!

You might be a Redneck if: You leave your rooster in the neighbers dog pen at feeding time.

You might be a Redneck If : You use a livetrap to catch varmits and use your cull rooster as BAIT!!!
