And I don't remember the year but in the near future incandescent light bulbs will be banned. I think it is 2015 for the target date on that. It was done as part of the global warming scare.

Any of you fine chicken folks have recomendations for places that sell good quality roll out nesting boxes... Jason has decided he dont want to build but buy one.. lol... I think its because we have to many building projects set up that have yet to be completed.

Hello fellow okie friends!

Brrrrr it is cold. Charlotte had a friend spend the night last night and they wanted to go sledding. So I bundled them up and sent them outside, no sledding for me. I am staying in today, I don't even have to go outside to feel that it is cold today, I feel it in my bones. So here I am sitting in the living room with all the doors closed off to the rest of the house with two heaters going in here and sitting under a heating blanket with my very fat 16 year old cat, Nala, sitting in my lap trying to warm up or keep warm. I need to get outside though and get some of those tasks I have been so badly wanting to get done. I just don't know if I can do it today. Man I wish I had the nerve that I had when I was young and the cold didn't phase me. Although, I swear it feels way colder here than it does when I am at home in Wisconsin.

Spring hurry up and get here already!

I was getting some heating bulbs the other day to make sure I had some on hand if any of mine went out, and started thinking about this very thing bcs there really aren't that many anymore. What will we do for heat lamps?

ETA: Did I kill the board again?

Well I on the other hand have not thought of this and I am guessing that I am going to buy a extra one every time that I am at the farm and home store. OSU it looks as though your day is going to be as relaxing as mine lol

Well, after I killed the thread a while ago, I decided to bundle up and go outside and find the rest of the family. I think it was a good idea I did. Kind of like the theory if you are cold in the pool get out a few minutes then get back in and you will be warmer. The same thing I suppose was true with this winter cold chill. I got all dressed up in my snow pants, coat, hat, scarf, gloves, and snow boots and went outside. Although, I was only out there for about 30 minutes or so when I came back inside my bones were a lot warmer, my cheeks are still a little chilled to the touch, but I do feel warmer then before going outside. I will have to remember this next time, LOL. Our house is so old that the wind can come right through it at times. We need to figure out a way to insulate it better. The windows are original window to this 100+ year old house, but I don't want to change them because they are so pretty. Perhaps a better caulk job would do the trick, now to get 'er done.

They already make a good replacement that lasts a lot longer. It's a ceramic doodad with metal heat coil innards. I'm considering buying some just because they don't go bad as easily.

Les, Buster good to see yall!! I remember AL posting one of those do dads but I havnt been able to find them, I guess I will be doing a wide range search on the web today lol.

OSU Krazy when I was about 12 my parents had a house that was 100 + years old and I must say that I love the old houses but like you we had a hard time keeping it warm and kewl but still beautiful none the less!!
