Okies in the BYC The Original

So the conversation around 3:50pm this afternoon went like this:

J: Whatcha doing?
Me: Getting the chickens fed so I can leave to go to the auction.
J: Cool! Where's it at again?
Me: Blanchard. P&B gave me the directions. Out a ways from the turnpike. South County Line road I think, few miles from the rodeo arena.
J: So... how are you getting home?
K: ::crickets::

J reminded me that I am very badly night blind. I stick to the city when it's dark outside, because it's pretty well lit. The first truck/car that would have passed me on a relatively dark country road would have blinded me. This is why he drives at night during road trips, and I drive during the day... and I'd forgotten about this in my excitement to go to Blanchard.

I've already made the decision that if/when I move farther away from the city, I'll be pretty much house-bound after dark, so I'd better have what I need before the sun sets. Basically, unless J or my Dad is here to drive me to the auctions, or until the days get longer and the sun is up later, I'll either have to hitch a ride to the auction, or stay home.

Well today just sucks!

I had to take the new pup to the vet this morning because she decided to get in a fight with a cat twice her size. She has a punctured cornea. After $100, we now have meds to give her 4 times a day to try to keep her eye sight. Found out that not only one, but both of my ferrets have low blood sugar so they are now both on meds. Then my good buddy, who shall remain nameless, offered to haul some birds to Blanchard for me and forgot to stop by my house on his way! Plus everyone is being way too quiet today. I need conversation!!!

I have two sick ferrets, a half-blind pup, way too many roosters, and no one to talk too! Oh what's a girl to do?

Hang out on BYC with those of us who didn't get to go to the auction?

That's the problem, they aren't talkative today. Usually I can spend the day just trying to catch up and stay caught up, today I keep checking and no one is saying anything.

Talk people, talk!!!

I noticed that... I wonder if they all froze?

I pre-cooked a bunch of chorizo/egg/tomato burritos, which is what will be for dinner for myself and J's son. I just gotta get off my lazy unmotivated bum and warm them up.

Hi concreteguy, we are Tuttle Tigers too.

Many Okies are at the Blanchard poultry auction, which is where we're heading right now too, although we're running late.

Gerald & I just passed our conceal carry class! Woo Hoo !!!!!

Sorry you couldn't make it this time. Springtime & warmer weather is much better with more variety anyway. We're just going to say hey & visit the gang. Not much more fun can be had on a Saturday night!
