So the conversation around 3:50pm this afternoon went like this:
J: Whatcha doing?
Me: Getting the chickens fed so I can leave to go to the auction.
J: Cool! Where's it at again?
Me: Blanchard. P&B gave me the directions. Out a ways from the turnpike. South County Line road I think, few miles from the rodeo arena.
J: So... how are you getting home?
K: ::crickets::
J reminded me that I am very badly night blind. I stick to the city when it's dark outside, because it's pretty well lit. The first truck/car that would have passed me on a relatively dark country road would have blinded me. This is why he drives at night during road trips, and I drive during the day... and I'd forgotten about this in my excitement to go to Blanchard.
I've already made the decision that if/when I move farther away from the city, I'll be pretty much house-bound after dark, so I'd better have what I need before the sun sets. Basically, unless J or my Dad is here to drive me to the auctions, or until the days get longer and the sun is up later, I'll either have to hitch a ride to the auction, or stay home.
