I too think as many of us do here that the scheduling of this new Fletcher auction does conflict with the more established and well run auctions in our area. The Fletcher auction owners need to find a way to attract the volume chicken buyers in the area, I think that is a critical to their success. If it continues to bring in the garage sale type goods instead of quality poultry that they are fast becoming the norm the big flocks of real chicken folks may just pass altogether.............................. Sorry Jim.........................

Hey, that's okay, Al. It is okay for us to disagree on occasion. I'm not sure we do disagree on this all that much. I do think the big buyers who buy and then sell elsewhere should reconsider that third Saturday (although I haven't been all that impressed with Cement's selection lately, either), as they can pick up some really good bargains to sell for a good bit more in another venue. Plus if the junk is sold at 4 before the poultry part starts at 5 I don't see how that would affect chicken folks at all, although there was that time when they slipped it into the poultry auction... that was a big mistake in my view.
And them heaters and fans really do the trick for me. If Cement would start taking the comfort of the buyer into account, it would make me a happy camper.
Even if I'm wrong about this, I was right about Blanchard, wasn't I? Can't be right all the time. It would ruin my reputation.
Yes you were right on the $$$$$ supporting the Blanchard auction .................... I have come to really like the inventory Jerry keeps attracting. The conditions as far as climate control inside the venue don't really affect my decision to go to one or another, the quality of the poultry dictates that. I really do want to see Fletcher do well because of the proxcimity to home, but they really need to get a handle on things pretty quick as we chicken folks don't cotton to feet draggin in conducting business.
As far as Cements selection lately I just really chalk that up to the winter, when things are always pretty slow, this spring and summer should tell if Fletcher has the wind and the gut's to stick it out with Cement, but that of course depends on the big buyers and that benefits us all, Hey Jim perhaps a Stimulas package for Fletcher would help LOL................
regardless it's all good in my opinion, here's to a better spring & summer buddy.
