I think I would rather use a shovel...

the 9mm like most military rounds was designed to chamber a full metal jacket or similar bullet shape, believe most manufacturers have overcome this by changing angles and polishing feed ramps, not sure what your shooting though

hands on kind are you, that could be scary

We were out shooting one day at a pasture dump and there was an old refigerator that was the target that day. I was shooting a .357mag and a friend had a 9mm. The 9mm rounds penetrated the fridge both sides with little damage coming out. The .357 did not penetrate the second wall but pushed it out a good six inches. I was shooting a semi-wadcutter and of course the 9mm had a full copper jacket. Needless to say I just wasn't impressed with the 9mm. H&K and I believe S&W both made a 9mm at the time that would load hollow points but nearly 1000 bucks for a pistol was a bit steep for me.

I have a couple of shovels laying around outside. I usually find copperheads while doing chores. It's much quicker to grab the shovel that's right there than running back up to the house to get the 9 mil. I tried using the riding lawnmower but for some reason the snakes kept putting their heads down. My neighbors probably thought something was wrong with me because I kept driving the lawnmower around with my feet in the air but I didn't want to get bit. So between the shovel, 9 mil or riding lawnmower, the shovel seems to be the most effective.

I killed 6 no 7 copperheads last year on my place. I forgot. I drove over one on the road. I had to keep driving back and forth but I did eventually get it. I'm hoping I have about gotten them all.

they make some very dependable moderately priced guns these days, there is no comparing the 9mm to a 357, thats a whole other thing, i could go on and on, but what you experienced was like comparing pushing a sharp pencil through something and pushing an unsharpened pencil through, the FMJ didnt expand it merely pierced, the wadcutter expanded and didnt have enough momentum to push it through.

and if you have any more gun questions or need suggestions i am always happy to help, i have a wealth of useless knowledge as some like to refer to it.

also if you have much of a snake problem the judge would be a great choice, can keep it on your hip and not worry about reaching a shovel also comes in handy for any other predator even the two legged kind.

Sorry Teach, but I dont do snakes either, if I see one on my property it is dead! My son has a friend that thought he would be smart and picked up a young snake with my kids standing there and brought it back to my place. Thought he would be cool and play with it(basically try to piss it off) til I stepped outside and told him he was a complete idiot, he had a baby copperhead!

Morning folks. I'm back at the grind. It is going to be a fun day. It is kinda cloudy and wet around here.

I wanna go home and go back to bed. I stayed up until midnight last night trying to sort out those dang baseball cards. I did manage to get one year of one brand in order and it only took me about 3 hours.

Geez why do people collect those things? (sorry Kate's hubby.) At least if you do collect them, put the dang things in order as you get them and don't pawn the job off on someone else.

Sorry about the little rant. I'm very tired today. I slept straight through my alarm for an hour until my husband's alarm went off. His goes off at the time I'm supposed to be leaving the house. Yeah I was running a little late, but I still stopped for coffee. I'm never running too late to stop for coffee.

Now don't nobody go and sell any cute critters while I'm at work today. Wait until I get home so I can take them all!
