Sounds like you don't have enough ventilation, even though you are trying to keep them warm there still has to be airflow in the brooder. Try drilling a few small holes both top and bottom and see if that helps the holes can be covered with cloth squares to prevent drafts from blowing in.

Thanks NN I am going to work on that. I will do some experimenting before I move in any more chicks.

As far as sexing chicks goes here is a warning.

One year while still in the brooder Teva marked all of the chicks that were sparring with each other and then ones that did it repeatedly were gotten rid of.

She got rid of all my pullets!!

Good mornig sunshine, now that you are up this fog should burn right off. LOL

Awww...you're so sweet!!

Thanks Buckguy - I'd look good in a puffy Sun costume.

(Speaking of commercials - has anyone seen the new one with Charlie Daniels playing the fiddle? I love that!)

I'm due to take the class to update my NPIP certification, but don't yet know the date for it. It may be at the same time and in the same building.

Yesterday while picking up the NNs from Ilovesilkies there was one hen that bit Teva four times.

Before we got to Prague her hand was bruised. I could see the pride in her face as she showed me the bruises. LOL
