I have bb red rosecomb bantams.

Are you interested in Peafowl?? If not, what do you get for your BB's?

I'm not sure how many I have at the moment, they are all young at about 3 months old. I'll count them this afternoon & try to get some photos posted. This is the rooster they are out of.

Well, to me, pro football is one of the few things worth watching on TV now days. That and The Office. Everything else is just a waste of time.

I love the drama of sports. Completely unscripted drama. In a good close game, you don't know who is going to win until the last minute, sometimes the last second. When it is over, you have a complete story, with a cogent beginning, middle, and an end. Quite often a surprising end. Can't say that with much of the rest of television.

I like football (Go Vikings) but I think it would be a much better game if the teams played a 3 game series like in baseball. Everyone says the game is to hard on the players for that, ha!, for the money they make they shouldn't be such whinners.

I'm a baseball nut! But I could make that a better game as well with just a few rule changes.

1) If a fan in the stands throughs a homerun ball back onto the field it should be counted as a double. This would get the fans into the game and make it more interesting for those who are paying the players.

2) If a runner is stealing a base a player should be able to throw the ball at him, if it hits the base stealer he is out. That would make them think twice about stealing second, would make an attempt at stealing much more exciting, & I doubt you would see helmets flying off the players head during the attempt.

3) No astroturf.

I have become a huge baseball fan in the past few years. My daughter is a crazy red sox fan. She and my oldest grandson go all over the country to see them play. And now that the grandson is so involved, I'm drawn to it. I never really enjoyed it when I was a kid even tho I played up until high school. It's much more fun now.

Couple of strange things going on around here....

First, I go out to the chicken yard yesterday & out there in the field is a cornish standing in one spot slowly going in circles. I walked right up to it and picked it up, didn't even try to get away. I've since determined that it has suddenly and without reason gone blind. No explaination can I come up with, the bird was fine the day before. Any ideas?

Next, all of my egg laying hens lay brown eggs. I have no white laying hens for table eggs. Well, until now that is. One of my brown egg laying hens is suddenly laying white eggs! Go figure!

And lastly, I just hatched some new chicks from my egg layer flock. These are a cross between a buff orp hen and a NHR (could be a cross RIR X Buff Orp) rooster. One of the chicks is black as coal! All other chicks, lots of them, have been buff save this one little oddball. How did that happen?!?!

Yup, strange days indeed...

See, you make my point. Why we love or hate teams has no basis in rational thought. To hate an entire team because of what individual members of that team have or have not done has no logic to it, even if we try to convince ourselves otherwise. We latch onto our tribes, finding reasons to love them, and find reasons to dehumanize and thus hate the other tribes.

Nothing wrong with that, of course. It is a healthy outlet for some of our more destructive human instincts.

Did you just defend a child molester?

Speaking of irrational. Where in my entire post did you see a defense of the guy? And seriously, do you think the team that played that football game yesterday had anything even remotely to do with him or his behavior? I doubt most of them were even alive at the time. So, to hate them based on what happened before they were born makes absolutely no sense.

Heck, I can't even hang that one on Jerry Jones, much as I dislike him, for the simple fact he didn't buy the team until many year later.

Matt look at the eyes of the Cornish, are they cloudy or do they have a grey color to them? Also look for worms in the corner of the eye.

Some forms of Botulism can cause temp. blindness. If the eyes are grey it could be the occular form of Marek's disease.

As for the black chick that is a sport, a throwback to when the Orpingtons only came in either black or white and is a normal occurance.

Why would you dislike Jerry Jones? Do you even know him?

Sure, Hank Schram and Tom Landry had more class and charm than Jones and the guys he has in charge now. But Schram, Landry and company are the very ones that tried to sweep the lance rentzel affair under the rug. The entire organization seems to be corrupt. When rentzel first crossed the line, he was with the Vikings. That organization dumped him. The cowboys welcomed him with open arms. That speaks volumes about the organization as a whole.

Now I'm sure that there were some in the group that thought that he should be out of the sport, but it didn't stop him from playing in every game for four straight years. There are some behaviors that just cannot be overlooked because of a talent in another area. The organization was corrupt then, and events as recent as those committed by Michael Irving indicate that it still is.

It's obvious that you aren't going to change your mind about them and I don't know if that's good or not. You're a fan, and I wouldn't weep for them if they burst into flame. I think we should leave it at that.

I took my magnifying glass out there just now and looked at the bird's eyes. They look normal, yellow with black pupils. No gray color, no cloudiness, no worms. Odd eh? Just sudden blindness.

Mornin' Faerie.

How is your day shaping up so far?

-Stimp-

A little flat, with a hint of sleepy. Yours?

I had a great night. Watched a movie with the wife then turned in early. Today, I was able to solve my hawk problem first rattle out of the box and the rest of the day is looking pretty good.

How'd you solve the hawk problem?

J and I watched the first hour of the premiere of 24, then passed out around 10ish last night. Well, closer to 1030 for me, I stayed up to pack lunches and wash dishes. I slept too hard, which is why I'm still a bit sleepy...

Sent an email to my favorite artist the other night... gonna start the chest plate tattoo in March. J says as long as it doesn't contain chickens or knitting needles, he doesn't care.
