Why not?

'cause it's hard and time consuming.

All the more reason to try it at home

Yeah Q like Les said it sometimes takes awhile maybe a day or so sometimes, you just have let nature take it's course and resist the urge to help it out of the shell.

AL

I think that with some slight changes on the demintions of lumber used (2 x 2 instead of 2 x 3) and some other slight changes I could probably whip out another one of these in about 1/2 a day.

I am thinking next time too that I might just use 1 1/2 inch light walled square tubing and weld it up.

I'm sure you noticed that one of his designs is welded.

Well no I was kinda too busy drooling over all of the birds. LOL

What'd I miss? Are there photos of these cages?

Good evening everyone!!

Queston - Congradulations you are a chicken daddy!!! You and everyone else are killing me with the incubating and hatching. I keep looking at my incubators and it is all I can do not to get them out and fire them up. I have vowed to not incubate this year only buying baby chicks, poults and peafowl of course. But it is starting to hurt...

Al you are a lucky man, a woman who will make you minestrone soup and fresh bread is worth her weight in gold.

Was today not the most beautiful day we have had all year? Oh it was lovely. I got the coop cleaned out.

It was so funny having the chickens watching everything I did. One of the roosters would start making clucking sounds every time I did something different. Kinda like a play by play of what was going on for those not standing by the doors watching.

I was thinking about making a tractor by making a hoop house out of pvc. I found plans on line and it seems fairly simple. Of course it probably isn't. The biggest problem is finding the pvc joints, elbows and such, but I think I can make on 6' x 10' for around $75 using some of the chicken wire, tarps pvc I already have.

Well I have to go do dishes and get ready for tomorrow.

Does anybody have any answers to the questions earlier that I had about using metal sheds as coops?

Edit to re-add:

1. Without cutting into the shed, and possible screwing up the structural integrity of the dang thing, how do I ventilate it properly? If I do have to cut into it, how do I do that without screwing it up?
2. Same question, just with windows instead. Oh, and insulation... how do you insulate a metal shed?

Never mind I got your questions now lol. Ventilation, I use just square vents that you would find on top of a house, as far as cutting the shed I use a reciprocating saw to cut the holes and has worked very well, as the windows I use old trailer house roll out windows, and frame them in with 2x4's, and I dont insulate them it seems to stay plenty warm in there without insulation. This is my 2 cents worth lol.
