Yah i didnt scroll down wen i seen your post. Are you bringing any birds to sale lots of peplo are looking for chickens. Ther is plenty of room in side.

I have to get busy building a couple of new brooders. I am going to try to hatch everything I can this spring. Come to think of it, I need to build me a new, high capacity incubator. I can't keep burdening my friends with my eggs.

evening everyone.... are you sure this is january???

worked on the netting on the run, am having a few issues with the 2 brahma roos....they get along fine, but are starting to chase the guineas, will that wear off??? can't have that! the guineas are friendly and hang out close to the house....

Anyone wanna help me ID a few chickens?

The only baby chicks I've ever bought were seven 6-week-old "Araucanas" hahahaha. Okay, they weren't even rumpless! But, I didn't know better. Anyway, only 3 of them are still alive (2=death by chicken hawk, 1=death by cow foot **urg** and 1 death by ??). Now, I THINK one of them is a rooster...and the other a hen. But, the third is WAY smaller than the other two. Either way, none of them are crowing or laying yet...so...

Oh, and I'm guessing they're Easter Eggers...that doesn't really matter...just wondering if I have layers or alarm clocks.

And this is to show the size difference between the 3 -

The white one is definitely bigger...he walks taller...I don't know, just seems like a roo to me...but no crowing yet?

I bought alot of cheap chicks the last couple months and just turned them out in the yard. Now they are starting to lay, they will sell real good in the next month or so!

Well my guess is #1 a light brahma mix number 2 I dont know, and #3 looks to be a Belgian Quail D'Anver hen, but there is a 99% chance that I am wrong, but I gotta at least try!!

ETA: here is a picture of one of my D'Anvers

nope nary a thing, dad shot one coyote a couple weeks ago but nothing else around lately, havent seen a bobcat or any coons either, heard about a mountain lion or two just south towards dibble. havent had anything come up missin either not sure if the new Boodhound is helping or what hope so, maybe him and my female will give some good chicken guard dogs. Also realized i havent seen any cottontails for several months either anybody else notice this, it happens every year with animals and plants, few of some alot of others, but wildlife seems quite scarce for the moment.

You can substitute beef with bison in about any recipe there is, it may be a little leaner than beef but I must say it is YUMMY!!!
