Congrats on the minty fresh hands.

This storm isn't sounding good and it is only getting started, ouch.

P&B Glad you got you hands sparkling clean.

How does the stainlesss steel remove odor.
My dw bought a stainless steelthing that was made for just that. Just rubbed it iver your hands to remove onion and garlic smells. It worked but I know not the how.

The sulfur from the onion/garlic/fish would be attracted to and bind with one or more of the metals in stainless steel. Formation of such compounds is what makes stainless steel stainless, after all. Onions and garlic contain amino acid sulfoxides, which form sulfenic acids, which then form a volatile gas (propanethiol S-oxide), which forms sulfuric acid upon exposure to water. These compounds are responsible for burning your eyes while cutting onions and also for their characteristic scent. If the sulfur compounds bind to the steel, then the odor is removed from your fingers.

I knew that, I just didn't know how to put it into words.

Thanks for sharing that knowledge. I learned something today thanks to you so today hasn't been a total waste.
Thanks

Thanks for the explanation of the "magic"
I guess that is why the stainless didn't remove the lamp oil odor - no sulfer in it to bind to the steel.
I have "break-through" lamp oil odor again. Maybe a nap would help me forget about it until it wears off.

Gary, how are the roads down your way?

P&B, Try lemon juice or a lemon... maybe vinegar if you dont have a lemon. It will remove the odor from the oil.

Hello all. We haven't lost power yet.

The birds somehow tips their waterer, so we just had to clean the coop.

There was so much ice on the top of the rooster pen, it was pulling the fence down. We had to cut the net off.

So far just wet. Temp is setting at about 36 but that will change tonight. Don't have to leave the house tomorrow unless Grace and I decide to head toward Cement during the day and stay overnight. That is if Cement is not iced in.

Sleet here in Yukon. It doesn't seem bad here although the weather guys were going on how this area would be a mess. Kind of wish we would lose power...I love putting my survival skills to the test.

Good luck to all those who have lost power. I hope you stay warm.

I just got home, and the evil chicken-killing machines were back. By the time I got into the house to retrieve my revolver, they had vanished. I made my rounds and the pens were secure, but I'm a guinea short, and there were a lot of blood-smeared feathers on the barn stoop. Their next visit will be their last. I'm not going to lose any more birds to a pair of mangy canine cast-offs.
